:) I’m part of an even smaller group: sports fans in Philly who like the local teams, but continue to stay anyway (but if football is ever impacted, then I’m gone)!

i got two questions if CBS went down in most markets , then why didn't they pull them in rest? like i have my CBS, for now, and why didn't CBS go all the way just pull Showtime?

CBS only has the local rights in the markets where they own the local station. In most markets someone else like Sinclair, Nexstar etc. owns the local CBS station.

They can't pull Showtime because it wasn't covered in the contract that expired.

Anybody else bothered that, even though this is about retrans fees for locals, CBS went scorched Earth & decided to pull everything? Looks pretty low class & doesn’t seem to bode well...

Did CBS pull them or did DIRECTV stop carrying them because no contract?

South Jersey guy here but a transplanted North Jersey guy. I was quite happy to see that I still get MSG and MSG+ as my RSNs. I still have Center Ice and MLB packages and use a relative's Comcast account to stream Phillies and Flyers games that are blacked out.

    That link is a 404

Edit: It seems like you can't go directly to that link. You need to visit the tvpromise.com site. From there click through to the CBS info and there will be a link to offers for one time credits. I just $30.

"In a statement released overnight, CBS says it offered a 30 day extension for negotiations but AT&T declined the offer. "

Typical DIRECTV : If the contract is expired, they pull the programming. I suspect to put more pressure on the provider.

Why wait till football starts when people will get really mad? It hurts CBS more than them right now.

That would never work in this instance. You really think cbs San Diego would want their CBS station broadcast in Los Angeles for a short time? CBS would never renew their station when it came up and they’d lose CBS if they did that.

Agreed. I look at this differently than cable/sat only channels. Many people can get CBS OTA channels with a simple antenna. This is just extortion on CBS' part.

Yup, shows they don’t care about their customers. If CBS is telling the truth. But why would D* pull them, how does leaving them on take away from their negotiations?

But D* is in a real FUBA situation here, losing all these local channels, the LCC not working with the HS17 and the LCC having weak tuners in it. I can see a lot of service calls coming.

What many people are failing to see is that these negotiations aren't just about the stations in question; it's about future negotiations for other channels as well. We're all at just about a breaking point for cost of this stuff. It's crazy.
