I downloaded the 22 minutes Japan HD program yesterday in right at 120 minutes. How big is the file for it? I want to try to see what kind of network speeds I had.

For the record I have a Linksys 802.11b wireless router wired network connection and Comcast internet.

Downloaded Saturday night and enabled yesterday morning
I've got "On Demand" on the menu (not active)
    No "Queue" entry anywhere.
    Used both IWANTMYVOD and IAMANEDGECUTTER
No related activity on my account summary
    Waiting patiently (albeit while fidgeting)

Is the lack of a "Queue" problematic?

mhking: I don't think your lack of a queue entry is a big deal. I'm in the same position as you (i.e. having the On Demand menu item without being able to access any content.)

Mine has been active for about 3 days, but I still don't have any VOD content. Some folks around here have been waiting for a week or two, so don't give up hope.

Any ideas when or if "remote booking" will be enabled for testing. Have had VOD enabled from the start and it still is not enabled on the website.

I still do not understand. I have the H20-600 and I am not sure what all this means. My box does not have an Ethernet connection.

Can I use USB Wireless adaptor?
Does this mean I need a new box eventually to get VOD?
Is it only DVR's or do lesser boxes get to do this as well?

Maybe these q's are better suited for another forum, but looking around and seeing mostly "H20" referenced, iI don't know where to get some info on 'H20-600" specifically.

    Thanks,
    Mike

You need an HR20 to get the DOD/VOD

When can I download the CE software, I have never done it before? From what I have read you can only do it certain times of the week. I want to try out remote booking and VOD. Someone help.

It's been about 2 weeks and I'm still getting no VOD content and no channels in the 1000s. Upgraded to 0x19c on Sep14, 0x19d on Sep21 and 0x19e on Sep22. Placeholders are evident and unit passes all network testing.

networked via Buffalo Ethernet converter to Linksys router

At this point, you probably won't get VOD until it goes national.

vod authorized tonight how long do you normally have to wait to download content? All my vod channels say Regular schedule VOD but when you click on the channel is is currently not available. I am a patient guy, I waited almost 2 week from the date I enabled vod.

    Hey Earl,
Can you find out from directv why some of us get VOD and others dont? You have some smart contacts with that company - if you could find out how they determine who does and doesn't get VOD, it would answer alot of questions that are being asked many times daily.

There are a large number of folks who followed the instructions on getting the CE, have their HR20's networked, and entered the secret codes, enabled VOD, but haven't seen anything. If some users get the privelege of VOD and others don't - it would be good to know how d* discriminates - that way, those of us who aren't getting it could maybe do something to become eligible (order more PPV, get more receivers, buy more sports packages....).

    Thanks

I can't tell you exactly why the script doesn't pick up certain people, but I can tell you that it has nothing to do with any of those factors. That's not what the CE program is all about.

I set up a poll to see how long the typical user waited before DOD was active:

    http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=101483

The majority (60%) had it within 2 hours of performing the steps. It looks like if you don't get it immediately, you are probably not going to get it.

Can someone (Earl?) with ties in D* ask what causes one person to be added and another not?

Mine was authorized last night also after a two week wait ( Must be due to the new HD Launch) and the guide data has been updating all day. Most people says it takes 24 to 48 hours to completely populate.

I just spent a couple of hours trying to figure out if I'd turn on VOD/ checking channel 1000/ rebooting/repeating until I was ready to give up and found this post.

You have to hit both MENU and INFO buttons at the same time on the front panel - I must so stupid.

It might worth clarifying that in post #1 for people doing this for the first time?

As an update for me: my VOD was activated by DirecTV this weekend. Eight or nine days after first performing the "IWANTMYVOD" trick. Thanks to all who encouraged patience...
