True, but it was a long term deal, and the time limit on when the change happened could have been a long time out or there could be a trigger for the change. It might be tied to when Universal Sports goes to HD. When Universal Sports first started advertising "but you are not seeing it in HD", DirecTV was the only provider that was not listed on the Universal Sports web site as one to be petitioned. At that time, DirecTV was the only provider that carried Universal Sports at all, and for some reason, Universal Sports was under the impression that it would be in HD on DirecTV at some point in the future. Those ads were run during the 2011 Vuelta a Espana. As we all know, it is not in HD on DirecTV yet, but I expect that it will be "soon".

That might be true.... It is possible that NBC Sports Network is being re-branded in to a more mainstream network showing hockey and college stuff, where Universal Sports HD will be re-branded in to say.... 50% of what it is now, and 50% of the lesser-popular sports of what Versus used to show - such as the important cycling races. NBC also has the rights to Olympic qualifying, and they have shown quite a bit on Universal Sports and NBC Sports Network..... and important qualifiers for the 2014 winter Olympics are coming up this winter.

Cycling is already split between NBC Sports Network and Universal Sports, with more and more moving to Universal Sports. Le Tour de France, the Tour of California, the US Pro Challange, Paris-Nice, Paris-Roubaix and some of the spring classics are the main cycling events that remain on NBC Sports Nework. La Vuelta a Espana, il Giro d'Italia, il Giro de Lombardi, the US Pro Championships, and the World Championships, along with several other smaller races are now on Universal Sports.

I expect le Tour de France to stay on NBC Sports Network at least until Universal Sports is more widely distributed in HD, and even then, le Tour might stay on NBC Sports Network. There is not much else going on during July that can pull in that many viewers. Going back to the OLN days, le Tour de France was by far the biggest draw that network had. Now, some of the NHL playoff games might draw that many viewers, but le Tour pulls in a lot of viewers for many hours per day for 21 out of 23 days.

I'm hoping Universal Sports will go HD soon. Not really having any big hopes as no major carrier has it.... only 1 in Oregon and 1 in Hawaii that I have been able to find.

I would love to see HRTV, even though it is only available in SD. I would put it adjacent to TVG.

Universal Sports, CBS Sports Network, and ESPN Classic belong together.

Makes more sense to keep Speed, Fuel and Fox Soccer right next to each other since Fox wants to change these channels into sports channels like ESPN, ESPN2, NBC SPORTS. So it would Fox Sports 1, Fox Sport2, FoxSports3. They are starting to show replays of EPL soccer matches now on FUEL so may happen soon.

Mistake IMO. I wonder if NASCAR will create its own network if that happens? Most of SPEED's programming is NASCAR related.

Ask someone that has Hawaii Telecom as their TV provider. (They provide a U-Verse like service in Hawaii).

    http://rbr.com/universal-sports-network-signs-hawaiian-telcom/

Or someone with Bend Broadband Cable up in Oregon: (channel 645)
    http://www.bendbroadband.com/residential/dc_channel_lineup.asp?pageID=dc&subID=clu

A provider called HBCI from Montana also appears to carry it in HD:

    http://hbci.com/Uploads/[083012][red-wing][channel-guide].pdf

So three small TV carriers have it. None of the big ones have it. Doesn't seem like a placeholder or anything, and from what I have found elsewhere Universal Sports HD is using the same 1080i system as NBC Sports Networked, so it doesn't sound like it is upscaled.

It's interesting that Comcast doesn't carry it yet, being merged with NBC/Universal and all that.

They can't keep a heavy accent on NASCAR even after they go more generic.

Evidentially NASCAR doesn't support a full channel. My NASCAR friends only watch races and not any background programming.

I never watch Nascar. If I watch racing, I am more a Formula 1 kind of guy.

That said, I was in a Sports Bar once, where they had multiple screens up. One showing the race with commentary, and several others with in-co.ckpit camera's following several of the racers. This is part of the Nascar Hotpass package. Now that is cool.

Whether NASCAR can support its own channel? I have no clue.... I don't know enough about the popularity of NASCAR, and whether - for instance - repeats of old races would be something that would draw viewers.

Edit: REALLY? :D :D co.ckpit was blurred out because of the first 4 letters? :D Remind me not to start a topic about co.ckfighting. :D

"****up" is still a common British phrase for a mess. And you can ask a women to pet her pussy without causing offense, so long as a kitty is in the near vicinity.
