This afternoon twice while trying to watch tv the channel changed twice all by itself it changed up to the channels in the 1,000’s where the On Demand channels are located on the genie guide. The screen went black and then the "DIRECTV LOGO" started moving around on the screen and then the channel went way up to 1,100 & something. Is this normal?

It isnt normal. The only time my channels have changed is to switch to a channel to record something from the To Do list.

Where do you live? Someone close enough to you to have your equipment respond to their remote?

What is the model number of the receiver this is happening on?
It is possible to set auto-tune settings on non-DVR equipment.

Here's an interesting thought, is your DVR connected to the internet? I ask because a lot of rural WISPs (Wireless Internet Service Provider) allow you to hook directly up to the network without a router. While this practice is strongly discouraged for security reasons it can be done. If you and another customer both are connected directly and the other customer has the iPad app the app would see both DVRs and he could be selecting yours by mistake

That's good news. Hopefully it's fixed. Enjoy!

This happens to me all the time on my 2 HR24s. It doesn't happen on any of my standard receivers, but the HR24s frequently enter the bouncing DTV logo screen saver in the middle of watching something and when you hit exit it has gone to a different channel.
