I have only been with DirecTV a short time... in fact, just a few hours and am already recalling why I left in the first place.... One used to be able to change the order of the guide... i.e. Ascending or Descending... I called tech support and the first girl hung up on me... I called again and spoke with a "Tech" who didn't sound too savvy about the issue... I asked if it could be elevated to a 2nd tier Tech... as all he could say after that was that it was management... yes, now I recall why I left the last time... anyone have a clue how to change the order of the guide with an HR34/700 Genie... much appreciate...

You can create a couple channel lists with channels you want to show up and ignore the others, but you can't change the order from ascending to descending.

You can sort by name on the iPad app and use that as a remote.

The last DirecTV receiver I can remember that had the option to sort the channels in descending order was my RCA DRD480RE, which has been in a box in the basement for about 10 years.

I'm probably missing something, but can't you just scroll in the opposite direction and have pretty much the same effect?

Or the people can figure out what channel there show is on and not even use the guide for the most part. BTW go cardinals I have MLBEI so I can watch my home team from down here in ATL.

You must know the OP pretty well if you know his/her specific needs.

So you changed provider, had a tech come and change boxes. Dishes, etc. Because of guide scrolling?

I know that it is completely unnecessary. That's enough.

I would actually like that feature, myself. Unnecessary? Perhaps, but I would think it imprudent to make that judgment for somebody else. Imprudent and unnecessary.

I'm curious. Why invert the guide? Sorting by channel name, I can understand, but why do a countdown in the guide?

Did it ever occur to you that your standards and other's standards aren't the same, and more to the point, your's are no more valid than someone else's?

I had an old RCA and one of the old Sony's in the mid to late 90's, could you change the guide order back then? It would never have occurred to me to ever try, scroll down the channel numbers go up, scroll up the channel numbers go down....what more is there?

Dish had this feature about 8 years ago when I used their service.
Pretty much a worthless feature. Went where they had my sports channels. Directv.

I think, the real issue is which way you go with "up" or "down." Some people want to go "up" in channel number when you press the "up"/"page up" key, and down when you press down. The way the guide works, pressing "up" moves you up the screen, but down in channel number.

    SOME people find that "confusing."
