what is the cheapest programming price selection that includes the Regional Sports Networks? thanks
The 2011 price increases are being discussed here:
The pdf files explaining the 2011 pricing lists:
PREFERRED CHOICE™............................ $39.99/mo.
SELECT CHOICE® ....................................$44.99/mo.
Preferred Choice is a "current" base package along with Choice, Choice Xtra, etc. Select Choice is a "legacy" base package, along with Total Choice, etc.
Also listed under legacy base packages is:
TOTAL CHOICE® LIMITED .......................$51.99/mo.
Does anyone have any details on this package? I've been a sub for 11 years, have had Total Choice most of that time (still grandfathered in) and can not recall ever hearing of Total Choice Limited before now.
If they'll let long-term subs change to Select Choice, even tho its a legacy package, maybe they'll let us change Total Choice Limited? My wife would be very unhappy if I dropped us to Preferred or Select, but maybe Total Choice Limited would work - if there's a channel listing somewhere??
Just went digging a little.... is this it:
Thanks for this thread. I called and was able to get this package by just asking. No hassles! Also, since I have Sunday Ticket and Center Ice, I still get NFL network and NHL network. Not every day I can save 20 bucks and still have all the channels I watch.
"Select" is listed as an official package when you enter a Nashville ZIP code on DirecTV's website. When I enter my ZIP code, there is no mention of Select. "Choice" is listed as the base programming package. Local advertisements & new-customer promotional materials for DirecTV also do not mention "Select".
The availablity of "Select", at least as an official package, is apparently limited to certain markets.
1. Are these still in HD?
2. Can i still get free HD for 24 months on auto pay with select?
3. Are locals extra?
4. Do i just call and and say i am trying to save money and i would like to switch to the dtv select plan?
1: Yes if you have HD Access.
2: I had this before I switched to Select and confirmed I still have the discount.
3. Not that I'm aware of.
4. I just called and asked for Select and they switched without any issues.
For the record, since this package doesn't have my local sports network, I wasn't able to watch my local hockey team even though I have Center Ice. (Stupid blackout rules.). I added sports pack and that solved the problem. I'm still saving money per month, and I'll get the full savings after hockey season.
2. No, minimum package for HD free for 24 months is Choice.
3. No, they're included in base pkg price.
Im still getting free HD with SELECT.
Edit: Was just notified I would lose my free HD if I dont upgrade to Choice....Oh well.
If you currently have a DirecTV programming package, and you downgrade to Select, you should be able to keep the free HD.
The new-customer promotions I am seeing all show Choice Xtra as the minimum package it takes to get free HD. So I'm not sure you would be able to get free HD with Select, if you don't already have it with your current package.
So you're paying $12.99/mo. extra for Sports Pack vs. $14/mo. more for the base Choice package, which would give you your RSNs and several more channels along with that. I don't see how you're getting a better value using your approach.
I had choice extra. Plus I got a sports pack promo. I usually get sports pack for the fall games, so I personally end up saving money in the long run. Once the NHL drops VS I'll have the perfect package.
