I have called D* twice -- both times I got estimates for a WHDVR upgrade of $200. The $200 includes an extra $50 because I am a new customer and they might have to swap out the dish (set top boxes all work). After I have been a customer for 6 months (two months from now) they will drop the $50 new customer penalty.

Whats up with that? WHDVR was not an option when I originally subscribed.

    Who do I complain to?

    Thanks in advance, tom

    Dripping...
$99 for the Connected Home upgrade hardware and $49 for installation + $25 if the Internet Connection Kit is needed is the standard price for an existing customer (you're not new the next day after you get installed). What you were quoted is probably going to be it, about the only thing you can do is call in and say cancel at the what do you want prompt, that gets you to customer retention. When then answer right off the bat tell them you don't want to cancel but is there anything they can do to help with the pricing, maybe they can but since they haven't made back their money for installing you in the first place they might not have much room to deal.

They tried to do that with me too. I said forget it and did the unsupported route and bought my own DECAs. I ended up paying about $25 for the whole thing once it was all said and done.
