Least year at this time, I upgraded my package in part to get the holiday music. Sadly, even on the Premier package, I didn't get it. I called in and was told that I needed the satellite that would receive all the international channels and that music channel was on a different satellite than all the other Sonic Tap stuff. Drives me crazy.

Channel 815 is on DIRECTV 7S at 119W so anyone with an SL3 is screwed out of receiving this channel (and quite a few others) regardless of subscription package.

and if you go online, and find you should get this channel in your package, you should call and ask them to install a 5LNB dish.. which I did last year, and everything has been good since.

Should I run out and buy a Christmas Tree???

If it starts any earlier I will just buy an Artificial Christmas Tree and leave it up year round (saves a lot of work taking it down and putting it up)!!!

Last year they put holiday music on a 101 channel around Thanksgiving. I guess they'll do the same thing this year. IMO its still too early for music but it's almost time to start my seasonal DVD watching starting off with Trading Places.

Tell me about it. My wife and I went to Walmart this afternoon. As soon as we entered the store there was a ten foot fully decorated Christmas tree. :nono2:

There should be a Law (I hate Laws as we have too many of them already) stating that Christmas Decorations can't be promoted until Dec. 1 and when I run for President of the USA I am going to include that as one of my Planks!!!

    As long as:

    1. you can see 119W
    2. they don't rope you into a commitment extension for the service call

The Grinch is the entity that theorized that putting mainstream content out in the wastelands of 119W was a freakin' awesome idea.

I remember when the Christmas shopping season started after Thanksgiving and "Only XX Shopping Days until Christmas" signs were common since stores still closed on weekends. I never got the 26" Schwinn I wanted but got a JC Higgins from Sears instead.

JC Higgins was Penny's, I also had their bike and my first set of golf clubs.

Edit, you were right it was Sears.

DISH typically doesn't hide content by outfitting subscribers with dishes that literally cannot receive all of their subscribed programming. They arguably offer significantly better music choices with greater fidelity as well.

...instead...they require 2 dishes to receive all the services for a number of subscribers....a fine alternative... ;)

So in the mean time...there's plenty of XMAS music on DirecTV, and after years of using the service without a problem (not to mention mulitple channels have such content)...rest assured...they'll be such music again this year.

You do not need access to 119 to get the holiday music. Just like last year, DIRECTV will move it to 101 after Thanksgiving.
