I lived in Northern California growing up (60's & 70's) and never saw snow on a redwood tree, man I bet that looks awesome! :)

Right now it is 3 outside with a forecast for tonight of -4 I would call that cooler than normal. Also this summer Denver did not have one 100 degree day and our usual runs of mid 90s never happened. I would say this has been a cool year

It does. Here's a snap from last December after a light snowfall:

We're only at 1600 feet so there has been only a couple of times in the last 20 years we've had over a foot of snow that laid for several days.

Our high yesterday was 22-25 degrees. Last night was about 4 degrees. It is not unheard of for winter here. But our summer was terrible. We never got above 100 and summer did not come until July. We usually have a wonderful Indian summer, but this fall we hit highs in the 50's by the end of September.

It all averages out over time. We had a much cooler and wetter summer, but the last week or so, temps are on track with last year and November was warmer and drier.

North Texas got hit with record (early) snowfalls in the last day or so, but south Texas was hot and dry most of the year.

The southeast was in severe drought early in the year, but has had substantial flooding later on.

We had a very mild summer... Milder than I can remember in a long time... And we have had some pretty cool nights so far this winter. So I say yes, it has been colder.

Uh. It's 10:30 pm and it's 26 and dropping. Snow is predicted for tomorrow night through Monday night. I just realized we haven't had a low above freezing since November 27. Yeah, I think it's colder than in years past here in the redwoods.

I believe I heard about another system moving onshore later in the week also.

I don't know if this is normal or not for this time of year:

I actually been warm here (CT). It's only this past two days that we've gotten down into the 30°'s.

We had a little snow yesterday and it's the first time this fall it's been cold enough.
