What I find funny is that MSG HD isn't available on Verizon FIOS, yet Verizon sponsors one of the shows on MSG, Hockey Night Live.

especially when that was from March, and its nearly October now lol

And yeah, it never ceases to amaze me how many of these we've seen over the years with people swearing TECH's have inside knowlege. I think the TECH's have their own forums where they figure out what the new thing to generate talk is.

Yikes - when I bought my first RCA D* receiver in 1997, the guy at the store told me it'd be only a matter of weeks till Spectrum/CSN-Philly was on DirecTV.

Please - no more "the tech told me" - they mean well, but have no clue.

CSN Philly and CSN Northwest will never be on DirecTV. They will fight forever to prevent the satellites from having them.

CSN NW can be on satellite but the price is way to high right now.

Over 1500 post about this subject and there will be thousands more and CSN Philly or whatever they will call it in January will still not be available on Directv. Reality check if you want this channel in the Philadelphia market unfortunately you will need cable.

Good news is Thursday's Flyers Bruins game is on Versus exclusively so we can at least see that game.

Or just bite the bullet and if available in your area get Verizon FIOS like I did after having Directv since 1998.

We'll see in three weeks if that will become a reality or not. That's when the deadline the FCC set for CV on their deal with Verizon and AT&T over MSG HD expires. If that deal goes through (and I've seen no moves of any additional legal action by CV on this) then you can bank that DirecTV will get CSN Philly. It's just a matter of time. CV was the only one suing the FCC on the closing the loophole deal, and they lost in court. The FCC heard Verizon's and AT&T's case on getting MSG HD, and granted their request. And gave them 30 days to work out a deal. If that deal goes through without any further legal wranglings by CV (which I think is VERY likely at this point), then you can bank on DirecTV getting CSN Philly. It will happen. When? Not sure. It depends on when the FCC rules on DirecTV's case before it to get the channel.

What posters are neglecting to mention is that DirecTV and Comcast need to agree on monetary terms. How do you explain the lack of a deal for CSN Northwest, which is available to DirecTV and Dish.

Probably for the same reason DirecTV doesn't carry The Comcast Network in the Philly market - the price isn't worth it to DirecTV. BTW, this has been covered - companies are not allowed to charge usery rates to one company vs. another. Comcast can't charge DirecTV $1million/customer to get CSN Philly, in other words. Yes, they have to come to terms, but believe me - DirecTV wants CSN Philly. And Comcast isn't going to be able to charge DirecTV a rate that is out of whack with what they charge, say, Verizon to carry the channel.

Verizon is willing to pay more to get market share. Verizon is the only major provider that has the Longhorn Network, and it paid to get CSN Philly.

Huh? I'm not disputing that Verizon is willing to pay for CSN Philly. I'm disputing the notion that DirecTV ISN'T willing to pay for it. Of course they are. They've gone to the FCC before just so they could get the channel.

DBS penetration in this area is low compared to the rest of the country - precisely because of CSN Philly.

I'm simply saying that Comcast can't play games with the pricing to prevent DirecTV from getting the channel. They can't charge x to Verizon and then charge 10x to DirecTV. They can't do that. I have no doubt that once it becomes available (and I'll bet anything that that will happen) DirecTV will pick it up right away. What makes me sure of that? Both DirecTV and Dish have recently petitioned to have the channel now that the loophole is 'closed'. Why would they do that if they had no intention of adding the channel?

DirecTV and Dish have to agree to pay what Comcast wants. If Verizon overpaid to gain market share, then the satellite companies can't argue they should pay less. You also didn't rebute me on CSN Northwest, which has always been available to the satellite companies.

Didn't you post this once before? thank you for the support but it's really not needed. Verizon Fios looks to be on the verge of getting MSG in HD so hope looms large in our(Philadelphians that is) favor.
