I figure I'll get the form letter - same one I'd get if I asked for any channel D* doesn't carry.
Emailed the Office of the President. I'll keep everyone updated.
Well here's the response I got. Lets see if you all get the same thing. If it's word for word, well then we know it's a machine responding and chances are that our message was not even read by a real breathing, thinking human being.
I understand that you want to know if CSN Philadelphia HD would be available this year. I'm more than happy to check on our records and articles to answer your query.
After carefully researching on the matter, still Comcast Corporation owns the distribution rights for the Philadelphia regional sports network, Comcast SportsNet.
DIRECTV would like to offer Comcast SportsNet in the Philadelphia area, but Comcast won't allow DIRECTV to broadcast it to our customers. Because we do not have the rights to carry Comcast SportsNet the Phillies, Flyers and other local sports carried on this channel will not be available on DIRECTV.
Just to let you know, questions or comments about this channel should be directed to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office or to the FCC at:
Federal Communications Commission
445 12th St. S.W.
Washington, DC 20054
(888) 225-5322 or (888) CALL FCC
On the other note, DIRECTV appreciates you bringing this to our attention.
I have forwarded your suggestion to DIRECTV Management for review. While DIRECTV Management can not follow up individually with every customer, rest assured every suggestion is reviewed.
Our goal is to provide the best television experience possible. We're glad you're one of our loyal customers. It's feedback like yours that helps us remain America's #1 Satellite provider.
We appreciate your understanding and the information you have given us about the matter, Mr. Sauer.
Have a great day!
Almost sounds like they think that you were the first one to bring the idea up to D*.. d'uh!
I got the same response from the FCC after I emailed about D* and CSN Philly... they said they can't control cable TV rates.. they obviously didn't read my email either as that wasn't the topic.
I emailed the same complaint back when they emailed me about third price increase. I got the exact same response word for word.
Yep, directv response is word for word the same as response they gave me.......and that was after I complained about the first canned response they gave me.
We are going around in circles here and should get us all the more upset.
Ditto on my response from Directv same as mentioned already. They make it sound like they have no recourse and that it is out of their hands .Even though I did mention how Fios got MSG after FCC filling and should be the same template for them to use with CSN Phila.
I am curios what else you guys think they can say? And I bet they have that email saved, and they just paste it into a reply and send it to you.
Yep - it's a robo-email. GRRR!
Well it's remarkably easy for an email filter appliance or application to scan incoming messages for keywords and generate canned responses. Chances are that's what happens with any large company like DirecTV just to be able to manage the huge volume of incoming messages.
I bet the logic scanned for words and scored them appropriately for this response. The thing is that we will never know if a human set eyes on what we wrote. If its purely automated then the system might just dump our question into an incremental counter for statistics. They prolly pull reports periodically on various topics like how many people ask about CSN Philly, how many people ask for more HD channels, how many people ask about TiVo, etc...
You never know.... You just have to think DirecTV wants this channel. The sports leader finally able to put a dent in the Philly market? Why yes please!
exactly, when I saw
Computers always struggle with "Query" vs "Inquiry"
I emailed the president, but I stated that if your not the president don't respond. I also said dont send me a canned message already made.
I want a true, notice as to the real update on D adding CSN PH.
So far they haven't responded, I sent it 2 days ago.
Your not going to get a real response I don't think, at least not the one your looking for.
Reality check. If you want CSN Philly go to cable. D* is NEVER going to get this channel. This could be the longest thread in DBSTalk history because we will be talking about this FOR-EV-ER.
Ive said it before but I'll say it again. Enough, Enough, enough already. There is no point keeping this thread alive until something actually happens so please, please, please let's stop tormenting ourselves...
Disagree....I figure this about the best place to learn what the latest may be on this subject. Also, it generates a lot of enthusiasm to put as much pressure as we can on Directv. If it weren't for this thread I know I would never have written to Directv 3 times.
I would never want them to think we have lost interest or given up.
But it's pointless. No one should think that posting here will make CSN Philadelphia appear on our TVs. If we really think that we are kidding ourselves.
Why read the thread then? People are allowed to post about it whether it's likely that we get the channel or not
Just got snail mail today from the FCC. Like another poster said it really just addressed cable rates. Funny because attached was documentation that I submitted online clearly stating the issue was Comcast withholding CSN Philly from DBS providers. I also referenced supporting documentation regarding the Cablevision / FCC / Verizon dispute. You think they would read it? No.
I admit, seeing a snail mail letter with FCC logo on it made me feel like someone actually read the complaint and took the time to physically send me a hard copy response. But being that the letter wasn't even close to my complaint makes me think it's just another one of those automated response systems out there who triggered on the keyword "comcast" and assumed it had to do with cable rates. Ugh. It's beating a dead horse. Guess it'll happen if it happens. Don't think we can do anything about it.
I disagree. Don't give up. I recently sent an e-mail to Ellen Fillipiak(Sr. VP. of Customer Relations for D*) and not only did I get a reply, but a phone call from one of her reps. I was told that they ARE negotiating w/ Comcrap for the channel, but will not comment on negotiations UNTIL a deal is reached. Keep this thread and hope alive!!!!!
