Because the 76ers are blacked out for every game in metro Philly. You must either have CSN-Philly or go to the game.

What was special about the Sixers-Magic game that everyone in Philly could watch it?

It was on an ESPN national telecast.

Didn't notice it on ESPN. Thanks for clarifying.

As part of the NBC/Universal deal the FCC had a provision that Comcast had to allow satellite companies to broadcast CSN Philly. That is awhile back now. I have heard the problem rests with the satellite companies/ comcast etc. Has anyone headr any hard data on if/when this might occur.

Valleygreen22 no disrespect but,all we do is hear things for quite a while here.So far to our dismay nobody has actually seen it show up as fact.Which would be with a set date of CSN Phila. airing on Directv either now or anytime in the future. This doesn't mean that everyone has lost hope of getting CSN .

So maybe it was a one-off, but pleasantly surprised to see a CSN Philly broadcast of the Flyers-Jets game on CI last night. I'm assuming they are still screwing the locals in the Phil. area on DirecTV.

From what I understood, CSNP would only provide the feed to D* if the opposing team's feed is not available. And it still won't be on for those in the Philly area. Same as when the Flyers are on NBCSN from time to time.

I was also surprised to see the CSN Philly feed on last nite.

Just curious as to the agreement that the league has with the RSNs about inclusion of the RSN feeds via NHL CI. Wouldn't Comcrap have an agreement with the NHL to include the CSN Philly feeds via NHL CI since the NHL owns and licenses the CI package to providers, not Comcrap and D* having an agreement?

How can Comcrap say, we'll only provide you (D*) with our feed if you (D*) can't access the opposing team's feed? Wouldn't Comcrap provide the feed to the NHL and then the NHL provides the feed to the various providers of NHL CI?

It has been stated before that the league has only the SD feed from teams. HD feeds are subject to negotiations. See cablevision versus NHL rounds 1,2 and 3.

It was a backhaul feed, which I'm surprised by because I thought D* had a FT CSN Philly feed for MLBEI?

MLB requires teams to provide HD feed to their broadcast center. Directv accesses the feed from there. It was part of the contract a decade ago.

Then, the NHL needs to get into the 21st century and require HD feeds (when available) for their CI package contract from the various RSNs.

When that happens, that will be great and I have little doubt DirecTV would use at least one HD feed for every game.

From what I've seen the past few years all NHL games are shot in HD nowadays.

Hmmm, backhaul feed on a different satellite D* can't get? Interesting.

Or don't want to pay for. DirecTV can get anything if it wanted to shell out the dough.

Were there a few posts removed from this thread? I'm referring to the posts regarding the Comcast appeal being thrown out of court? Why?

Don't you mean Cablevision v. FCC in the second circuit?
