Unfortunately, it could still be a long way from a "done deal" as the appeals process can be a long and arduous one.

Marvin Isgur, who has a well-deserved reputation as an ethical and respected jurist, has, on more than one occasion, made known his desire for a fair and equitable resolution, including his pre-approval and certification for an immediate appeal to the Fifth Circuit if Comcast so desired after his initial valuation ruling, which Comcast declined, a clear indication that that he believes he is on very solid legal ground, but, even so, if Comcast decides to first appeal to the District Court after the final ruling, no approval or certification is required, and that still leaves open for Comcast the Fifth-Circuit-appeal option, regardless of the District's ruling. Isgur has also stated that he would be reluctant to make any decision with regard to the final approval of certain and actual asset transfer while the appeals process is wending its way through the court system.

In any event, hopefully, Comcast will continue to see the apparent folly of their ways (A.K.A. peeing in the wind), accept the valuation and final decision by Isgur, and be done with it, but the Comcast pockets are deep, so that may be more wishful thinking than anything.

    Yea

Hopefully within a week or so. We've waited too long for this already but we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.

The most salient point in Isgur's comments today was that if this agreement were not approved by the court, the only other alternative was a pure liquidation (Comcast offered no alternate reorganization plan), something over which no bankruptcy judge wants to preside if it can be avoided.

In this instance, I think Isgur has very much lived up to his reputation, and the likelihood of reversal at either the District or Circuit Court level is minimal.

The Houston Chronicle reported that network would be up and running by Nov 14.

Worthy of note is that during today's hearing, as a result of the parties' agreement, Hughes removed the automatic stay that had been in place as a result of Isgur's ruling and Comcast's notice of appeal, so there is a possibility, however slight, that Root Sports Houston could actually go live prior to the now-anticipated Nov. 14-16 time frame.

    Of note, IMHO:

"Under the reorganization plan, the Astros (46%), Rockets (31%) and Comcast (23%) will lose their network equity positons, and the teams agreed to forego immediate payment of more than $100 million in unpaid rights fees. DirecTV and AT&T are picking up the RSN for $5,000. "

5K? And I do know they'll need to invest far more $ to actually run the network. Still, 5K isn't 5 mi....

ATT/DIRECTV are infusing the reorganized network with $50 million in order to get RSN Houston up and running.
