I'm guessing your talking about the OnDemand CinemaPlus stuff? You'll need an HD DVR with internet access, ideally and ethernet cable connected directly to your home network gateway/router.

You should be able to see what's available via the Guide at DirecTV.com

I haven't actually counted but I suspect the number of free movies listed in the online guide is closer to 6 than it is to 600. :nono:

Unfortunately you can no longer sort on price in the online guide listing.

I used to got to On Demand on-line and then search by channels. Sony, MGM, etc had tons of free movies.

I just looked and searching that way seems to be missing or maybe I'm just not seeing it. (Maybe it's been replaced by "my DirecTV???"

Very intentionally misleading commercial imo, the wording they use in the commercial is "..... over 6000 movies and shows at no extra charge".
The ad makes it seem as though there is a list of 6000 movies and you pick one and watch it right now for free.

    Brilliant!
So the content of channel 1000 (free Sony and MGM) is now advertised, and less useable than ever before.

I think I did eventually figure out a functional boolean search via the receiver for the 1000 movies, but I just cleared a bunch of recent searches while playing with the YouTube stuff..

The ad actually says "access to 6000 movies and shows at no extra charge". They don't charge for the access, just the content. :nono:

Just did it on Sunday, it was at the bottom of the first menu that came up. Browse by channel.

But, just to be clear: There are not 600 or 6000 free movies. The movies still need to be paid for, individually, it's the VOD service that is free.

    Winters,...
I am corn-fused! I see mention of both browser listings and receiver listings, and references to the bottom of a menu, but not sure which menu where....
I do recall we could search VOD by various columns, including cost, but no more. Now, I can't find nuttin', but I know it's there! Could someone post exact directions for either or both, please?

There are free movies from AMC, TCM and FMC. I don't know if there are 600 of them but there are a few. There are also free movies mixed in with the DIRECTV Cinema stuff, that come and go.

I think they are including all the premium movies on that too. They are considering them "free" if you subscribe to HBO Showtime etc. I about got bit by the free Cinema deal a while back some of the newer movies were in the online guide as free but after downloading it cost 4.99 to watch it. So I guess they meant it was free to download.

    OK...I'm lost. I'm sure I'm overlooking something!!!!

I'm on-line logged into my DirecTV account.

I go to site map, then to On Demand.

It takes me to the Beta for "MY DIRECTV."

Where can I search by channel there???????

    Someplace else??????

That is how I take it. Especially since the banner when you look at DirecTV Cinema, it says "Over 4000 shows and movies at no extra charge."

Pretty sure they are including HBO, Starz, Showtime in that.

    On your DVR, not on-line.
