With no new posts in 18 months, should this thread be unpinned?

I stopped watching that thread years ago. I'll second it.

Well, our old friend and former moderator, the late Richard King, who passed several years ago is still among the top 10 posters so that says a lot about the lack of interest in post counts and the 'congrats' thread in particular. Also, yours truly is treading water at 21k+ with almost nowhere to go, so unpin it and let it go float with the riff raff!

The thread exists because before it did, people would start threads either to brag or to congratulate someone. So, it was created as a way to house those things and keep people from creating multiple redundant threads. IF the notion has outlived its usefulness, time will tell... but if people miss seeing this thread up top and then start creating new threads again, look for it to return. As they say, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Agreed ... it seems that we worked past the urge to congratulate people for each milestone - even smaller ones on the way up to my position.

But if the urge returns a single thread is the best answer.

That I created this thread because at any given time there were a few dozen individual threads for congrats.. which got really annoying to allot of users... So a rule was made at that time to consolidate all congrats into a single thread.

And for the record, I do miss Richard. I could always count on an interesting conversation with him.
