What about people not even near the end of their contract, I'm only 6 months in I'd love a Genie?

Full price more then likely. It all depends on how long you been with them and account status over the years. They even mentioned and thanked us for having a excellent pay record. I also know people push for more with this and that for extras. I could careless and only wanted the updated box. Could I have got more? Possibly. I will never know though.

I've been off contract for a couple years now and was offered a genie when I called up today for just the install fee of $49. It's going in tomorrow. :D

I assume that will put you under contract for two years?

I don't want one. I have an HR 24, 2 HR22's and an HD receiver, plus Whole Home. That gives me six tuners to record from. Why would I want to give up a tuner? Is there an advantage to the Genie that I'm missing?

If you gave up the two 22s, you'd have 7 tuners. I dunno, I like the flexibility of having a bunch of HR2x-xxxs rather than putting all my eggs in one basket. You also just about have to purchase an eSATA setup with a 34, 1TB is gonna get used up pretty fast.

replace the HD receiver with a Genie (HR34) and you would have 11 tuners to record from.

I guess I assumed I'd have to give back the HRs I currently have to replace them with a Genie an clients. They don't make you give them back?

Why did you assume you would have to send back all of your DVRs just to get an HR34?

They won't to bill you as much as possible so of course they want you to keep the 3 DVRs so they can bill you more.

He'd still be stuck with two 22s. If they work properly he would have 11 tuners. He could still use them as servers, they all seem to work well at that.
