Nothing like reprising a thread from 2006!

I switched from Dish to Mediacom cable about a year ago. First opted for their Tivo equipment and then changed to retail Tivo since Mediacom’s didn’t support many streaming services.

Even using today’s new/returning customer offers, I’m saving quite a bit.
Dish Top 250, all premiums, Hopper 3 with 2 Joeys would run approximately $169/month. Add the $80/month I pay for internet (100/10 w/1Gb data cap) and the grand total is around $249.

Mediacom with my Tivo and 2 Minis is about $190 to Mediacom, $10/month for Tivo service for a grand total of around $200. That includes almost all their channels, including the premiums, missing only a couple of al a carte offerings. Note I’m in the 2nd year at that $200, prior to that it was $180/month for the 1st year.

HDPQ is as good as either Dish or Direct provides and SDPQ is heads and shoulder better.

I wish Google would run their fiber system out to where we live but doubt that will happen. Son has it at his house and it's not perfect it's better then Spectrums offerings. Got to pass on Spectrum due to their continued use of STB's that came out over 10 years ago, no WHDVR, no 4K. Yea I could get a Tivo but our system uses switched video so I would loose out on a bunch of stuff going that route.

I just left DIRECTV after 22 years for Optimum Cable. I bought a TIVO Bolt and 4 minis. I went paying $305 for phone tv and internet to paying $111 for the three.

I'll take fiber any day ..

U couldn't ever offer me cable TV if it was free I refuse . I'll take OTT over cable TV.

No one should have to suffer with POS cable

    But that's just my opinion

I wish I could vote but can't I miss it any way as for what next on the horizon that going to be HDHomeRun Premium TV service in 2020 soon as our contact is over as I'm sick tried of not only Dish high price but also DirecTV junk DVR as well and as local cable system are price are just bad and not very reliable and only have 4 tuner TiVo not even 6 or more as our house need at lease 8 tuner.

I didn’t vote but last November I made the switch after 20 years with Dish and DirecTV back to Comcast and TiVO. Just renewed with Comcast for 2 more years. Dish was great in the early days of Charlie Chat but got too big and lost it way. When DirecTV began giving away DirecTivos (2003) i switched and stayed with them for 14 years. When AT&T bought them and ruined a good company with their terrible overseas customer service I had enough.

The TiVo/Comcast combo has worked well for me and saved me money because I had Comcast internet anyway. The commercial skip feature and reliability has kept me happy. No monthly charge for TiVO Minis is great also.

I know Comcast is America’s most hated company, but I deal face to face with the local office within walking distance of my house. I have had only one ten minute outage in the last year. Things just work and I no longer have to worry about brushing snow from my dish, rain fade, SWM lnb’s, multiswitches, dish alignment, re-boots, billing issues and trying to get overseas CSR’s to understand what I want.

I just dropped DirecTV after having it since 1997. Dish will be out on Monday to install their system. DirecTV priced themselves right out of my budget, no customer support and crap 4k mini receiver. No option for decent cable where we live.

I gave up cable. Soon as I got my 1st c band satellite. Back in 2014

I had 4dtv for 2 years. Loved the convenience of it. The once you have an account . You payed as you go. Never any outages.
Then when the shut down came.
We had a wild feed come up. That was a lot like Orby TV today. 40 something stations on one transponder . For a year.
And there is enough programming on the big dish that I don't need cable.
Plus we get free previews every now and then.
I'm planning on getting Orby. Someone said it reminded them as dish or direct TV cheap packages.
I know from having direct TV. No. Just to having the since channel. You had to have the 80 + dollar package.

Keeping my big dish. And it will work on Orby without updating any of my stuff. Just got to buy a box.
