Does anyone know if Marquee/ Sinclair have announced any intentions to bid for the other Chicago sports teams currently under contract with NBC Sports Chicago ?

No. Marquee is the new Cubs home. Hence the Wrigley Field Famous “Marquee” sign outside their main entrance of Wrigley Field. The White Sox, Bulls, & Blackhawks all have just signed Long Term Agreements to be exclusive to NBC Sports Chicago. The White Sox, Bulls, & Blackhawks also will no longer be on WGN Channel 9 there. No Chicago Teams will air on any “Over The Air” channels anymore unless they are on a National Channel like FOX Baseball Night In America, NBA on ABC, or NHL on NBC like on a weekend. Hope this post clears that up for you.

Thanks for explaining what's going on in Chicago.

This means Marquee will not be able to torture any other team's fans.

The Bulls, White Sox and Blackhawks each own 25% of NBC Sports Chicago now with Comcast/NBCUniversal owning the remaining 25% and is the operator. Wouldn't make sense for them to leave the wider-distributed RSN they have an ownership stake in and go to the newer less distributed RSN where they wouldn't have an ownership stake in. I highly doubt Sinclair and the Cubs would give up any ownership stakes in Marquee just to get Bulls, White Sox and/or Blackhawks to flip.

Previously the ownership structure of NBC Sports Chicago was Cubs 20%, Bulls 20%, White Sox 20%, Blackhawks 20% and Comcast/NBCUniversal 20%.

The Chicago Cubs and Sinclair Broadcast Group had more than a year to get their act together to launch Marquee Sports Network. Even so, Saturday’s long-awaited debut turned out to be the worst new product launch in memory. Still without Comcast Xfinity, the region’s largest cable provider, it only got worse from there. Hulu + Live TV, touted as a streaming alternative for cable cord cutters, pushed back its start date for Marquee to perhaps opening day March 26. Also left in the dark were countless Charter Spectrum and DirecTV customers. Others had no idea where to find Marquee, thanks to the network’s inadequate marketing efforts. Remember when Cubs bossman Tom Ricketts got roundly booed onstage at the mere mention of Marquee during last month’s Cubs Convention? Those boos just got louder.

This is why they launch during spring training when people aren't going to care too much if they miss a few games. They have over a month until opening day to work out all the issues.

This is day 3 of no Marquee in Chicagoland via Directv. Still have error 721. I have a qualifying package and at Marquee's web site it says I am good to go. I am patient enough to wait for whatever the problem is to be fixed but my elderly mother has been waiting all winter to watch her Cubbies. It's not working at her house either. To say she is p****d is putting it mildly.

I'm being told a different story now. First I was told my grandfathered package was qualifying. Now they are saying otherwise.

If you think Cubs fans aren't going to care too much because it is spring training than you don't know much about the Cubs and their fans. Cubs twitter has been lit up since the launch debacle started on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

So today I had no problem watching the White Sox vs Dodgers play to a non-thrilling tie on NBC Sports Chicago while I could not watch the slugfest between the Cubs and Mariners on Marquee.

I mean it isn't like adding a channel is new to DirecTV. That is what they do and have been doing for years. Some people get it some don't. And some of those that are not getting it are actually in Chicago so it isn't just the fringe people it is affecting. It is just incompetency on both DirecTV and Marquee's part.

I am further south then Spfld. Marquee's zip code finder says I am out of market. But I have always been in-market for Cubs and White Sox. I emailed Marquee support and told them their zip code finder is wrong as I have always been in the Cubs market and today I watched the White Sox vs Dodgers on NBC Sports Chicago RSN which proves I am in-market and they thanked me for letting them know and that they it would pass it on to their developers. That was my first contact with Marquee support. Now maybe they just tell you what you want to hear like DirecTV does. I will see eventually I guess.

Marquee Network is working here now, it wasn't earlier. I did a refresh services a few minutes ago. Not sure if that's what got it working though.

Commercial accounts don't get RSNs they have to pay for them separately, so it is simply a matter of calling Directv and adding the channel like they would add CSN Chicago or BTN.
