This is the second sports channel launch failure DirecTV has had in a row. ACCN similar failure.

Put up a countdown timer MONTHS ahead of time, and have AT&T employees, and long time customers, see if they can get it in the proper packages and hit the ground running, day one.

A little thing called doing your job.

How can you blame Directv for this when plenty of providers had similar issues?

There have been other providers with issues, sure, but DirecTV can't even turn the channel on for everyone in Cubs territory, not to mention not making this part of the Sports Pack. They absolutely are culpable in part for this.

To clarify, can a commercial account add an RSN that is not available to residential accounts in the same zip code?

Just got off the phone after a long time being on with DIRECTV. If you are outside of the Cubs broadcast territory, you aren't going to get Marquee even if you are a Sportspack Subscriber. It's only going to be available in Cubs Territory Zip Codes. That's what I was told. So if you are anywhere other than Cubs market, you can hang it up, you’re not gonna receive the Marquee Network.

Are there any RSNs that aren't available to residential accounts anywhere in the US, other than now apparently Marquee? I can get any RSN that Directv carries if I get the right package or pay for the channel for the ones that are sold individually. I haven't called about adding Marquee yet because there's no reason to bother until opening day.

“Other providers” - No, other providers have CONTRACT issues. DirecTV has a contract, but cannot find an IT guy smart enough to insure that the proper people in the proper areas get the channel. A simple matter of plugging zip codes into a matrix.

“ACCN” - ACCN launched outside the high package in non-ACC states, despite it being strongly implied that it would have the same carriage as the BTN and SECN. I live in a non-any of those state and got BTN and SECN in the high package, but needed the Sports Pack for ACCN. Then, after they renewed the ESPN over all contract, it joined the high package. NONE of the CSRs had clue one about the matter.

Once again I spoke with DIRECTV yesterday. The man I spoke to said they were given memos that read anyone outside of Chicago Territory would not get Marquee. If you're not in Chicago Cubs Territory, they cannot give you Marquee Network. Now later on who knows that could change. But for now if you're outside of Cubs Zip Code defined territory, you're not gonna be able to see it. It's a sad time right now for Cubs Fans who live all over the country.

As far as I know, Marquee is the only Regional Sports Network (RSN) that has signed on with DIRECTV & it's not available nationwide. I have the Sportspack and can get any RSN out there. YES Network, NESN, SNY, MSG, MASN, NBC Sports Boston, FOX Sports South/Southeast, SUN, FOX Sports Florida, AT&T Sportsnet Pittsburgh, FOX Sports Detroit, FOX Sports Ohio, NBC Sports Chicago, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports North, FOX Sports Wisconsin, FOX Sports Southwest, AT&T Sports From Colorado, FOX Sports Arizona, FOX Sports West, Sportsnet L.A. (Lakers) ROOT Sports Northwest (Mariners channel) NBC Sports Bay Area, NBC Sports California, FOX Sports San Diego. Longhorn Sports Network. All of these channels are part of the Sports Pack. Marquee is on Channel 664 in the Sportspack but not available to anyone outside the Cubs Territory. Marquee is the only one unavailable to the rest of the nation if this clears anything up.

I wouldn’t be surprised if some people not being able to get the channel that are in market is because some are on AT&T account and some are on DIRECTV accounts. And new or older packages could be affecting it as well.

People who cannot get it and can get it can you list if you’re on an AT&T or DIRECTV account and what packages you have?

I’ll bet the reason that it’s not available outside the territory is they wanted to much money and DirecTV laughed at how much money they wanted for people not in the market.

So, you being in Iowa - can you add Fox Sports Detroit to a commercial package for viewing in Iowa? (Residential subscribers would get FSD via Sports Pack.)

Would a restaurant in Springfield being able to subscribe be a good indicator that residents in Springfield would be able to subscribe? Or could it be some error where DIRECTV authorized the channel based on a corporate account instead of the location of the receiver?

If you're speaking of Springfield, Illinois, yes, it should be included as an RSN in the Champaign-Decatur-Springfield market, through DIRECTV. The Cubs home territory stretches down through most of Illinois.

Not getting Marquee yet. My DirecTV account was migrated to AT&T in September 2018. Premier package with Sports Pack and Extra Innings is set to auto renew when the regular season starts. I've been in the Cardinals/Cubs/White Sox network for years and have never been able to get Cubs and White Sox games on MLB-TV (don't care if I ever get to see the Cardinals play :D) which is the reason I've bought Extra Innings for years.

For those of you in the Chicago Cubs market/territory...if you can see Marquee in your guide then try refreshing your receivers either on-line or by calling Directv. That worked for both my account and my mom's account. Once refreshed the channel came on instantly. My mother has a new current package and I have a grandfathered package. Both of us are on AT&T accounts as opposed to the old Directv accounts.

Yeah I saw people on Twitter saying to do that and it works but it hasn't for me. CSR's have refreshed my receivers multiple times and I have as well with the myATT app. Also tried red button resets several times. Let me ask about refreshing receivers using the app. When I am ready to do it, it tells me I won't be able to watch TV while it refreshes. Then I tell it to refresh and I never lose the programming on any receiver and can still watch TV. The refresh gets done on the app in about 10 seconds and tells the refresh will be complete in 5 minutes. Is that normal? Or are you supposed to lose programming while the refresh is taking place?

I used the refresh command from the web site, not the app on my pc. When I tried to use it for my mom's receiver on her pc it said feature was temporarily unavailable. For her I called Directv and never spoke to a csr, just the computer prompts. I just said "refresh receiver" and after a couple of minutes and prompts a computerized voice said it had been completed. Marquee appeared immediately. In both cases there was never a loss of programming and only took seconds. Hope this helps!
