I second that request. All three channels - AJE, CNNI, BBCW (or any one of them for that matter) would be very welcome here. I have witnessed CNNI, and unless it has changed in the last few years it is vastly different from CNN. Much more focus on international events, fully covered press conferences, hosts that cover the news - no personalities, etc.

I am paying good money for marginal service. About 85% of the channels I get are of no interest to me, but I have to subscribe to the 250 package to get the channels I want. I consider all three channels mentioned to be rather core channels, but at least qualifying for the 200 package.

And no, the internet is not really an alternative. DSL speed is not sufficient to run full resolution streaming video, plus I already pay for satellite service and I like watch TV on my TV, not on the computer screen.

In the longer term, if the service does not arrive the time for a switch away from satellite to internet streaming will arrive. I could pay for faster speeds and still save a bunch of cash every month.

I think there has also been pressure from the Israel Lobby.

Amazing, some people think the first amendment should only apply to the US.

AJE is available on an FTA non-scrambled KU band satellite. An internet search will provide further information. And perfectly legal, they want viewers! They tell you which satellite, frequency, etc. for North America on their website.

Actually, the first amendment only applies to the government. Satellite providers are free to decide what programming they want to air (within the limits of copyright law and permission of the content owners). DISH has AJ Arabic on the international services and that channel is the one that causes the most angst over AJE.

Providing AJE before BBC News, CNN International or Euronews on the main satellites (English services) would be an issue as there are better choices. There are probably people who don't know DISH provides CCNews (channel 265) as a PI channel. Most of the people who found CCNews probably watch the religious channels around it.

As James pointed out... the 1st amendment only applies to what government can prevent... not what capitalism supports.

If enough people wanted it and made that known... then likely Dish would add it.

I have always said I would love to see more good news channels... so if there are some I haven't seen, I'll give them a try to see how they present the news.
