We just switched from Mediacom to D*... Were looking for more HD content and reliable equipment.

If you go to Mediacom and want a DVR, consider establishing an account in person at a local office so you can be certain a DVR is available. They have a waiting list in most places, but if you're there establishing a new account, they'll probably give you one if they have it.

Don't let them give you one of the Pace boxes, they're not reliable. The Moto boxes are ok, but lack some of the more minor functionality of the D* DVR.

We'll keep Mediacom for internet, but in terms of television, Mediacom is dated and stale.

You can't be serious. I'd rather not have TV at all then go back to that dismal company.

I did go to 5-1 and GMA was in HD. I know the bars are normal for a SD show.

I know. And I also know that I won't have to worry about Ch. 5's HD signal going out every time the wind blows. But still, wouldn't you expect that D* could get ALL the channels available? They're starting to look like E*!

Never underestimate the greed and/or ignorance of small market TV station owners/general managers...

Did this cause a system reset overnight or sometime today? I ask because I lost my 23-1 OTA again, as I always do when my unit resets.

Does anyone else see two 23-1 OTA channels listed, with one saying KDMIDT2 and the other saying KCWIDT? And the KDMIDT2 one is the one that tunes in, but I can't remove the other one in setup or else I lose the signal?

Ch 5 (WOI), has frequent pixellation on HD-LIL. the other channels are fine.

It was bad enough two nights ago that I wouldn't consider trying to record it...wouldn't be worth watching. 5-1 OTA was much better, but even it had a few break ups for no reason. Signals are quite strong both sat and OTA. It's just the typical "WOI can't get it right" stuff that we have been facing for years.

I haven't noticed the pixellation on WOI, but I guess I haven't watched much on that channel. I noticed fox had some audio sync issues, but i think it is better now.

I was flipping around last night and saw several instances of pixellation on WOI in just the coupld minutes I was there. WOI is a waste of transmission space :hurah:

Again, make sure these issues are posted in the correct thread for your DMA in the link above.

I was excited to get the locals in HD from the sat - no more worries about how it was coming in on the antenna...or so I thought.

I just watched Grey's Anatomy from channel 5 that I recorded on Thursday. About every 5 minutes the entire picture would freeze and break up with huge green blocks and the sound would completely cut out.

That is MUCH worse that I've ever seen from my OTA. One would think the signal from the sat would be more reliable????

It takes a while for the HD-LIL stuff to get "fine tuned", and with WOI, I suspect it will be more of a chore than others. It's not much of a provider.

WOI has been an amateurishly run station from memory. I remember when I arrived in town in 1985 I was astounded how the picture quality of their news video was very noticeably lower than everyone else's; it looked as if it were taken with a home camcorder! It doesn't surprise me that they are lower quality than everyone else in town. I wonder whether because of this you can get a waiver for ABC? :D
