Anyone else hearing the descriptive video on certain programs since the update? It’s not on everything, but I have noticed it on a few shows. Modern Family for instance has it. It’s very annoying with an audio overdub that comes on describing what’s going on in the video.

So how do I turn this off? I’ve checked and I’m not on SAP. I am on Dolby output but I tried turning that off and my recordings still have the descriptive audio.

I would describe first your setup: TV model -> AVR ? model ? -> mini ? DVR ? model ?
    TV audio settings ? DVR/mini settings ? ...

Yeah, sorry. Running HR44 via HDMI cable to Denon AVR-791 (which outputs audio) to Vizio M702i-B3 TV (video only).

Never had this problem before. Just noticed it this week. Just got software “0x114b, Wed 1/9, 2:24a” recently.

Did you do a Red Button Reset of the HR44 ?

Is it possible this is a TV setting causing it ?

Is this the “Talking Guide” under Accessibility Settings?

Talking Guide is off. I have not tried a red button reset yet. I’ll give that a shot.

I don’t think it could be a TV setting as audio doesn’t even hit the TV. It gets stopped and interpreted in the receiver. Only video hits the TV.

Well, when I enable talking guide, the behavior seems to be similar to what you described. I don’t see any other setting that would be causing your issue.

Perhaps try to toggle the setting on and off?

    Are you in Tuscon?
Several folks have posted in the DirecTV Support Forum about this issue with a local Tuscon station.

    Talking Guide:
There have been occasions in the past that the indication of a setting was not the reality.
This would only take a couple of minutes to try.
Go to that setting and turn it ON. Leave it on for a couple of minutes. See if it adds something else. Now go back it set it to OFF.
