The Slow VOD thread and my personal experience with such service have given me lots of curiosity as to what is the reason for such different experiences among many subscribers.

What I am trying to gather here is as much info as possible to see if a common pattern can be established.

If you can, please provide what router or gateway (brand, model number) is in use and the exact download speed if available. Also if you selected "other" as your ISP, report the provider on the post as well

I have no problems, using mid grade cox internet preferred plan through cheap included netgear gateway. I did have the 150/20 but found for my uses I never used all that speed so reduced about 3 months ago. Didn't really notice much change in VOD speed.

Wow! That's the shortest ping I've ever seen. Do you live next door to the hub?

Not sure, I usually have less than 5 ms with cox, it was around 80 ms when I had DSL here.
I actually just ran it multiple more times and was still 1 ms. Tried a different website a Megapath speed test and got 11 ms but server was out of dallas.

Time Warner Roadrunner 30/5 using a Linksys WRT1900 AC just upgraded last week from a Linksys EA4200 which also had exact same results. No issues streaming anything wireless on my HR34, PS3 and 4 laptops etc.

I used House #1 to answer the poll. House #2 has the same answers (no problem, 6-10 Mbps, standalone router) but the ISP is CenturyLink.

Haven't really paid attention to VOD speeds as I've just been selecting all episodes for the various seasons of a show (e.g. GoT, Deadwood), but no problems that Ive noticed.

The "how does your DirecTV VOD service work" question needs more options.

My VOD works fine (immediate viewing) about 90% of the time and is worthless the other 10%.

    Leased Comcast ARRIS WBM760 modem / ASUS RT-AC66R router / TP-LINK SG1008D gig-e switch / DECA1MR0-01 connection to the LAN.

Shaperprobe has never found any WAN traffic shaping.

You should add some kind of quality rating to your poll. I could live with the slowness as I don't mind setting some shows to download before I go to bed. It's the severe glitches (always 2-3 per hour long episode at random places) that make my VOD experience terrible.
