    Relax. We'll get the channels.

If it is just like 2008, they won't announce it even till Monday.

(In 2008 they didn't say anything at all until the Monday before the games either).

    I remember 2008 as well.
They had the channels up and showing on the guide (ch. 750-756) days before they announced it, and over a week before the Olympics started.

Not a good move for the so called "sports leader" if Directv does not add extra channels! They have an HD mix channel for just about every golf and tennis event so why not the Olympics?

And what happened to getting Universal Sports in HD?

And they officially announced TCM HD 24 hours before it's launch, and a few days before that they still sent out the "we currently do not have TCM in HD" courtesy emails. They aren't announcing anything anymore, not like cable companies who often are legally bound (in some states) to announce channel changes a month ahead of time.

There really is no reason to panic. They will carry the channels.

And those channels often don't go in to test until 2 days before, and are usually also announced only 2 days before. Wait till after the weekend.

It doesn't EXIST in HD yet. Ask NBC why.

Ever read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Don't Panic!

I bet you will see that same stuff right around the same area, 750 or so. Such a nice fit right after the baseball channels.

I agree that's the right fit, if they do get the channels.
    We'll know by Monday.
If it's 11:59 pm Monday night, and still nothing, then it's a no go.

it not like they need to test part time channels that much.

No. We will know when the first event is not on or when the channels light up.

And I think you mean "when" they do get the channels.

I think I may have found some good news on these channels. Just looking through the guide I now see a channel 750 which is going to be the mix channel. I also see channels 751-1 and 752-1 they are not labeled but I bet that is for the soccer and basketball channels.

Actually now that I look they are labeled 751-1 is the soccer channel and 752-1 is the basketball channel so we are getting the channels.

They're showing on the guide on my box now too, as 751-1 (soccer), and 752-1 (basketball). Four years ago in 2008, they were channels 754 and 755 (without the hyphen, so they were 754 and 755, not 754-1 and 755-1).
I'm assuming since it's 751-1 and 752-1 (with the hyphen), that these are the HD version of the channels perhaps? If so, that's great. They may not even have standard definition channels. If I remember right, 4 years ago they only had the HD channels for these (and not the standard definition version of them, if they even existed in standard definition). No big deal, I'm more interested in the HD version of course.

    Quick question though:
If we record any of the soccer or basketball matches on our DVR, and after these temporary Olympics channels get taken down after Aug. 12th, do we lose those off our DVR box (off the play list from our DVR) ???
I don't think I've ever recorded anything from a temporary channel.
    Maybe I have, but I can't remember.
I'm thinking it would stay on our hard-drive (common sense tells us they should), but would it go from channel 751-1 and 752-1 from our playlist to just channel # N/A, and still be able to play on our DVR from our hard-drive ... say a month after the Olympics are over with?

    Thanks.

    I don't see 751-1 or 752-1.

I do see 750 Sports Mix
    751 Soccer
    752 Basketball

    EDIT

750 goes to the SD holding page
751 and 752 go to the HD holding page.

Yes they just changed the guide. It has the -1 earlier tonight but now is just showing 751 and 752. It was probably just a mistake in setting up the guide initially as these are HD channels.

The hyphen is gone now. Just 750, 751, and 752 (for mix channel, soccer, and basketball). I'm still assuming these will be High-Def.

Now, we need to pressure them to get the Judo Channel, the Taekwondo channel, the Canoe channel, Rowing channel, the Archery channel, the Badminton channel, and the Equestrian channel.

Cmon DirecTV .... MAKE IT HAPPEN.

Nothing you record from a real channel ever expires or self deletes. Even if it is temp or no longer subscribed. As long as your box can boot and is active you can watch it.

The only exception is when you limit the number of episodes in a season pass.
