BBC One online live feed is in HD and their player is capable of "true" full screen, no bars. iPlayer still shows bars.

iPlayer was in full screen for me. You need to choose pop out option.

I'm guessing the iPlayer has bars because none of the apple products (iPhone, Ipad) have a 16:9 screen. So they have to be letterboxed to show the whole 16:9 picture, or you have to cut some of the picture off to take up the whole screen (a practice that I loathe).

It doesn't have bars if you choose the pop out version. The default version has bars that they use to provide information on the events, stats, athletes, pointers to key highlights, etc. But if you want full screen choose the pop out and it's full screen.

Double crap - Channel 750 is the unwatchable SD "Sports Mix" - No Olympic coverage at all!

Is there not a "mix" channel on Direct? I looked in the guide and did not see one.

Why is the sporst mix channel not showing a single olympic event? According to directv it was supposed to, and in HD.

They never said there would be an Olympic mix channel in HD.

Hoosier - I too remember seeing something about it supposed to be an Olympic mix channel.

    Yep - Right here: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/sports/olympics

Sports Mix Channel (Ch. 205 and 600)
Watch all of NBCU's coverage of the 2012 London Olympics at the same time on our exclusive Sports Mix Channel. When you want to watch just one of the NBCU channels, just select it on your screen to tune in.

    Includes these channels:
    NBC – Ch. 392
NBC Sports Network – Ch. 603
    MSNBC – Ch. 356
    CNBC – Ch. 355
    Bravo – Ch. 237
    Telemundo – Ch. 406/407
Soccer specialty channel – Ch. 751
Basketball specialty channel – Ch. 752
    3D coverage on n3D – Ch. 103

The 3D broadcast of the opening ceremonies (n3D) appears to be commentary free and possibly unedited! I'll have to check it more to confirm.

Edit: I just skimmed through it. It does have brief and infrequent commercial breaks, absolutely no commentary, and nothing cut from the ceremony!

Right now the mix channel has CNBC, Telemundo, Bravo and NBCSN on it. All in glorious SD. Missing are NBC, Soccer Channel, Basketball Channel, and MSNBC. All are showing Olympic coverage right now.

(Aside. The web stuff is horrible. Very jerky on everything I have watched, except the commercials!)

Also, would have been nice for us with dishes that don't see all slots if Telemundo were available, even if it is only SD.

And four of the mix channels are non-Olympic channels. So we are not watching all of NBC's coverage on these channels.

    This is crazy.
Telemundo was showing swimming on the mix channel, but it's showing a movie when you tune in to the channel.

USN has gymnastics, but it's not in my package, so I can't watch it.

MSNBC has Olympics on right now, but its not even in the mix channel.

Ain't no gymnastics yet. Must be qualifying event. I don't think USN is shooing any Olympics.

Would it be possible for Directv to remap the channels that are showing the Olympics in a chunk (in the 700 channels for example) It'd make things so much easier when you want to watch the Olympics, instead having them spread out all over the place.

Yes, not happy so far and I haven't figured out a convenient way to see what's on which channels. The Sports Mix is a joke as it's not Olymplics coverage and the NBC main channel is showing repeats and crap. I know I'm probably not the norm, but I don't really want to watch sports that I see all the time during the Olympics - no basketball, no boxing, no tennis, no soccer. And two hours of womens basketball on Saturday, really?

I've clicked the button to load the "Summer Games App" but it never loads (last night, or today.) I left it on for an hour why I ran errands and it was still "loading" when I got home.

Best method to see what is on is to use the nbcolympics.com website and TV Listings.

But unless you watch on line, expect swimming, soccer and basketball. And, of course, pretty much only what the USA is competing in.

And, really, you create a soccer channel to show the same event that is on the main network??? Really?
