Sounds more like total garbage, when there's many more channels more deserving out there. More internal politics and we all suffer with higher churn rates.

Adding these channels have NOTHING to do with not adding other channels. Not adding these channels won't make the contracts for the other "deserving" channels come up for renewal anytime faster. Right now there's HD Cinema placeholders left for 3 channels, along with a potential for 12 other channels using the recently vacated D11 transponders. (With a potential for even more once the rest of the Puerto Rican related migrations are done)

Would you rather they just add nothing at all and have about 30+ additional HD Cinema placeholder channels for the next few months, if not longer, until the contracts for CBS (Pop), Outdoor Sportsman Group (Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel and potentially World Fishing Network) and/or Discovery (Discovery Life, American Heroes, Discovery Family) are up for renewal and then add them? Along with explaining to both these networks and customers "sorry we're not adding your channel or any others until the contracts for several unrelated media conglomerates come up for renewal", and the potential legal fallout (especially when some of the recent additions were a result of a lawsuit settlement that they would violate if they didn't add them).

And just because YOU don't watch them doesn't mean others don't want them either. Several people in previous anticipation threads mentioned ASPiRE, Revolt and Justice Central on their wish lists. As for MBC Drama HD, the audience they target probably don't post on boards like this considering the language barrier, but there's probably a lot of people on Korean forums and facebook groups who welcome the addition, (the same people who would subscribe to the Korean Direct package).

I wish they would start dropping some channels that are little-watched instead of adding more. It just raises program costs, which get passed on to everyone.

Take a look at what's the highest rated content on cable and you might rethink that wish... It will be a world of reality shows, kids programming, some original shows on channels like AMC, FX, USA and TNT, Big Bang Theory and Family Guy reruns and a lot of sports. All the other channels you might like but don't get as many viewers would either change their format to appeal to one of those audiences, jack up their own rates because of the loss of ad revenue, or go under

Those little-watched channels are some of the cheapest (like less than 10 cents), most of which have an operation budget subsidized by their more popular sister stations so you would still be paying for them anyway, you just won't get them.

Not to mention, DirecTV has 20 million subscribers with varying tastes, for every channel you watch, there's another channel someone else watches instead. And unless someone has the clout of a hotel chain where a chainwide distribution deal depended on them carrying one channel (i.e. Hilton and The Weather Channel), DirecTV isn't going to give one person's viewing habits a higher priority over someone else's viewing habits.

DishTV just added getTV to its line up! It would be great if Directv added it also. It is currently an OTA offering in most major cities, but usually on a low-powered transmitter that is normally unable to be received unless you are sitting under it. Thanks.

They'll give us this crap but not AHC or NASA in HD. Their equipment fees have become ridiculous, over one third of my bill.
