Directv adds TENNIS CHANNEL HD and CSTV HD

    I agree. It would be very interesting to hear (in programming meetings) why these channels decide to do this...

    Honestly, although we geeks abhor it, I suspect it's because most people would rather see a stretched picture. They feel like if they're not using the whole display, they're missing out on something.

    neither channel has come up on mine, and have not had any problems with any other hd release channel

    More then likely, for stretch-o-vision, people are a lot like my 82 year old grandmother. Who believe, that when a show is on a HDTV it's automatically in HD...stretched, pillarboxed, or otherwise...

    My 88yr old Grandma has HR-20 and can't stand the "black bars". She'd rather watch stretch-o-vision.

    Well that's kind of true, isn't it? The HDTV upconverts the signal...:grin:

    I didn't know you hung out over here... I thought you lived in the Columbia Thread over in AVS forums. :lol:
