Why are just hearing about this at the last minute?
Given late-arising awareness of the potential loss of Disney channels, I’m glad I can access ESPN via Comcast. Oddly, it makes financial sense to be a quad-pay – TV, data, phone, home security – vice triple-play customer despite the fact I never watch TV via Comcast; well, until now. In my area, its constellation of HD channels materially is less robust than DirecTV’s offerings (moreover, there is no 4k programming). Fortunately, the local ABC and all ESPN channels are presented in HD.
Nevertheless, I strongly hope Disney and AT&T can achieve a resolution before Friday to avoid inconveniencing everyone, especially during college football season.
Not out of the question. A couple of mouse clicks got me a $30 credit for the CBS dispute.
Not sure if this has been posted. But...
DirecTV is occasionally blocking out the ESPN Bottom Line when it mentions the looming carriage dispute
How is it we hear about locals disputes sometimes a month or more in advance, but we only hear about this potential ESPN dispute a week ahead of time? Can it really be this weekend, or is it more likely to be the end of this month?
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah..
AT&T TV Promise - DIRECTV, DIRECTV NOW, U-verse
Just a guess on my part but I think they will extend this to the end of the month and then if there is still not an agreement then maybe the stations will be pulled.
I wonder if AT&T/Directv truly realizes how much blow-back they will get from customers on this if it gets to that point? It's one thing missing a tv show but the amount of passion/craziness when people start missing their favorite teams game is on another level.
Don't a majority of sports bars/sports books use Directv? I wouldn't want to be the customer service rep getting the call from those people when on College Football Saturday's those businesses can't show the many games that are on the ESPN family of networks.
Too bad all the Mickey channels didn’t come with the Plus service if you’re already subscribed to it.
So people don’t frequent Buffalo Wild Wings just for the outstanding cuisine?
I just saw this. I just was watching & posted a new thread about this in the DIRECTV Programming forum. They are blacking out the entire Bottom Line at times preventing us from seeing the message. I believe they are not supposed to be altering the presentation of the channel? Right now the whole Bottom Line is Completely Black.
If I recall, DTV swapped out the flagship NY and LA national CBS O&O feeds with TEGNA east and west CBS affiliated pre-contract-expiration when the smack talking promos started running on CBS with the threats. I see both K/W ABC mouse sh*t is still up, so they must not think this as serious as the CBS dispute or they would swap them out by now with TEGNA ABCs. The mouse has a lot more weight than CBS
I know, I miss him too, but he is on a different satellite TV website and still providing valuable feedback. Someone here was ticking him off earlier this year, and I cannot blame KyL416 for bailing in the interim...........
I was afraid that this was going to happen; I've seen it a couple of times here and a few times on other sites; You get somebody that knows what's going on and somebody suddenly starts giving him or her major attitude and arguing with him and eventually the one in the know leaves.
Technically we've known about the Deathstar's contract with The House of Mouse ending this month since July because of the *whisper* U-Verse TV notices *whisper* however it seems some may have thought D* was excluded where ACC Network was added at launch which clearly wasn't the case here.
Deathstar has let the monkeys out of the cage again! They must have given them extra bananas because they are on point this time around with either blacking out the whole or part of the ticker whenever a message appears unlike with the Viacom dispute where the message was actually readable for 20-30 seconds. I wonder how long it will take House of Mouse to take a page out of Pineapple Under The Sea's playbook and start rotating the message around the screen so Deathstar will give up on blacking it out.
Has anyone seen or heard of any messages showing up on Disney, Disney Junior, Disney XD or Freeform?
NFL fans, what are the tv rules, in the New York area, local WPIX 11 is carrying the Jets Monday night game, if ESPN goes dark on Friday, does that nix the channel 11 retransmission?
I don't know exactly but according to wiki, pix 11 is owned by Tribune so in theory should be unaffected to a possible Disney blackout

NY DMA will absolutely get the game. All teams for all games get local OTA coverage. Even if ESPN goes dark they would still provide the game to WPIX.
