I ask that every one who wants to weigh in read the FCC complaint. It's linked earlier. At least read the summary. Please!

An FYI...here in Central Pa, the Fox 43 facebook page is 90% in support of Directv in this issue. The anger is being vented toward Trib and Fox 43. In defense of Fox 43, i doubt they have much say in this and does miss their Directv audience

tribune is not calling it a superstation. DirecTV (and some posters here) are doing it.

But you are 100% correct in what you say about the supers.

No. Creditors do not OWN a company under bankruptcy protection.

Yes, as I posted earlier, as well as:
Nor do the licenses transfer until the FCC says so.

Well there must be some type of bankruptcy judge or ref that has the power to get this moving.

The bankruptcy judge is empowered to protect the shareholders and creditors. It is unlikely that he/she would jump into a fray like this---especially this early.

I apologize. I saw a post discussing the licenses but not the post commenting on ownership. BTW the bankruptcy court does not OWN ribune either. they have to approve certain actions but the court does not take ownership.

Yeah... I knew about the new RSN with the Lakers and Galaxy, but the teenager in me who had a NBA bedspread and a Michael Jordan poster is embarrassed by the fact that for some reason, I indeed thought the season was over. Once I thought about it, I realized you were right... LOL!!

I don't know if it was the Angels, the Dodgers, or both, but that's a possibility. I was a Braves fan for many a year, so MLB games might be exactly what I was thinking of... :)

Wow. Just read the entire complaint, emails and all... Freaking ridiculous....

And why on earth do all these people have to have that sig in their emails that states its from their iPhone or their iPad or blackberry? Do they just not know how to change that??? :)

So off topic, but a side note... It was in today's paper that for the first time in years, two lakers home games will be pushed from FOX Sports West to Prime Ticket so that they can show two additional Angels games. Gee, I wonder if that was decided because they are throwing billions at the Angels for a new contract and losing the Lakers forever at the end of this month. Not that it actually matters, I don't know of anywhere in Los Angeles that gets FOX Sports West but not Prime Ticket.

This was a post directed to me by my local Fox 43 station concerning my support of Directv in this stand off with Trib:

WPMT FOX43 Frank, we are just as disappointed as you are about this situation. FOX43 does not want to be off the air either but we have to wait until Tribune and DirecTV reach an agreement. To clarify something you said DirecTV can't carry us without an agreement by law. They know this and yet they continue to tell people it is Tribune's fault. In regards to this being resolved, there was never a deal in place. These are very complex negotiations with a lot of different things to work out on both sides. Tribune can't back out of a deal if it was never agreed to in the first place. In case you did not know, DirecTV also is in a dispute with Pappas Broadcasting and that groups TV stations are also not on the air either. DirecTV also blames them for taking the channels off their service. They do a lot of these negotiations every year. They know exactly what to say to their customers. They claim on their "our promise to you" page to have a 99% record in keeping channels on the air yet right now they have two broadcast groups off the air.

Was there a deal? Was there not a deal? This sure looks like its going to end up in court, sans a FCC intervention. Be interesting to see who DirecTv will file against, Tribune, or the collective banks and hedge funds.

If they cant even agree if there was a deal or not, I dont see them agreeing on much at all at this point.

Sr Mgmnt at Tribune is in lame-duck mode. It had no right to negotiate a deal, and should not have attempted to do so.

Anything as consequential as a multi-year retransmission agreement should be put off until the new owners take over.

Or, if it can't wait, the bankruptcy judge, with input from the (eventual owners) creditors, should take the lead.

For the current mgmnt team to negotiate a LT agreement would be analogous to an underwater homeowner negotiating a short sale without the noteholders (banks) input.

I have users that insist on it, or sometimes add "please excuse typos." I want to tell them, no it doesn't, but don't think that'd get very far. Not that I haven't made any typos myself...

I expect "written on my ..." from certain of my contacts and it reminds me that they are willing to be contacted and work with me even when they are out of the office. I do get concerned when ALL of their emails are written from out of the office ... and unless they are a person who works from the road I wonder if they are taking what I want to deal with them about seriously - I want them to be willing to stay in their office or come to mine and work out a deal.

No slack for misspellings ... my phone spell checks and I can voice dictate emails (which ends up with wrong words occasionally - always corrected before sending). What I send and what I receive still MUST resemble a professional email regardless of the source device. But I do cut slack for brevity ... a quick reply that says "I'm out, I'll get back to you" is better than no reply until tomorrow.

With that in mind ... which side was less than professional? DirecTV or Tribune?
