Sure was. The question I'm wondering is, now that it's done, will the regular naysayers that appear when the glass is half empty appear and post something positive?

This situation really didn't effect me, but I don't like to hear about D* having to drop channels so I'm very glad this was settled. Especially glad for the customers that were effected :)

Think of it as the CNN of Chicago. They host original news programming as well as some replays of WGN's news casts. There is much more on it than repeats and is live most of the day.

    I'm not

Just to be clear, I'm referring to a very few posters but their pattern's predictable. It's funny to me since the agenda is transparent. What those guys probably don't consider when they appear on que when these carrier disputes arise, is that there are a lot of us here that don't play that game, ie, we don't post in Dish forums with sarcastic remarks and with predictable motives.

Man, I've never even read a Dish forum here, much less posted there.

The sad thing is the channels never had to come down. Not Directv's choice to take them down.

Yes. But it didn't last long. Most of us knew that as well (not D*'s choice to pull the channels). The few that don't want to hear that, well, they'll most likely never be convinced ;).

Nope. DirecTV could have made a deal a few months ago.

Or Tribune shouldn't have reneged on the agreement they had with D* at the last minute.

Are you kidding me... Do you really think D* would have got the same deal a couple of months ago?

Sat racer. Can you clarify here? Tribune said directv had to take the channels down because there wasn't deal ( that's how I read their postings) . Directv said they could keep them up- even without a deal.
    Which statement was true?

DTV made DNS stations available in areas that are allowed by the FCC...had the stations been removed or made not available then theses customers could have had DNS broadcasts.....

One might say that this is more of a public relations move on Tribune's part than anything else. With baseball season's opening day for the Cubs and White Sox on Thursday, they had to settle. Imagine what would have happened if this mess dragged on for weeks. I'm just glad that I'll get to see the Cubs home opener.

Content provider greed prevails yet again.

Note to self...the next time rates go up...remember Tribune group.

Oh so true. Tribune just wanted to use them as leverage against DIRECTV. DIRECTV stuck with it and got the job done though.

The even sadder thing is what will the other broadcasters (like Lin) take from this. If it was intentional on Tribune's part, it was a well-played gambit that probably netted more per subscriber than if they had settled before the deadline. I pray that’s not the case but I wouldn’t put it past a company in bankruptcy and desperate for cash flow.

I'm not so sure they could have. Tribune needs as much cash flow as they can get. They were gonna hold out for as much as possible and the closer to the deadline they push it the more leverage they have over DIRECTV.

Like I said before, I'm guessing Tribune got more per subscriber this way than if they had settled months ago.

DirecTV could have kept them up with permission from Tribune. They couldn't do that because Tribune told them to take them down.

Of course this was a short take down, the all important Televsion May Rating period begins in a few weeks....no way they are going to not have all those viewers in the mix:)
