Might be temporary dropped due to NFL games ..

Years ago they would drop ppv channels and mix channels due to NFL ST

Why on Tuesday 6am, no football? Also 6am is when new channels go live. I think it is AT&T cutting cost.

The point I'm bringing up has less to do with the Spanish HD channels, I was just using them to ask a question regarding HD availability on the new streaming service versus satellite.

In other words, the question is: just like there are Spanish HD channels offered on DTV's streaming service that are not available in HD on the satellite service, could this also be happening with the non-Spanish non-HD channels on satellite ? Such as C-Span, CNBC World, Nick Toons, Teen Nick, Logo, the Starz-Encore movie channels, Flix, etc.

Bottom line: if they are doing it with the Spanish HD channels, why not with all the other channels ? Now that DTV is offering its entire channel line-up via streaming, what if we discover that all their non-HD satellite channels are in HD on the streaming side ?

We already know of 3 which are (Sportsman Channel, Gol TV, TyC Sports). Are there more ?

I hope not, I sorta like the Sports Mix - not on ch 205, that is not in my custom guide, but ch 600 kinda brings ESPN etc to the 600s.

Howard Stirk Holdings (owner of my NBC affiliate WEYI-TV) finally ended their dispute with DirecTV today too. :)

If I had to guess, I’d say the channels decided they can’t afford not to have the eyeballs for november sweeps...

With the impeachment stuff coming, it sure would be nice for the C-SPAN's to finally go HD.

Why, you want to see beads of sweat running down people's faces? I can't imagine something that would benefit less from HD than congressional testimony...

I've been wanting C-SPAN in HD forever so you aren't alone.

All three C-SPAN HD channels can be streamed with provider credentials.

My viewing the channels will not change the outcome ... but viewing would change my attitude toward life. I have decided to limit my exposure of coverage to comedy shows. :D

And yet they lack any apps for devices lile Roku and what not. Yeah FitzyTV has two of the channels but still..... just freaking add the HD channels DirecTV. It's that simple.

Personally, I would like to see HD CSPAN for major events, such as the State of the Union, political party conventions, etc. HD is not needed for its regular fare of people talking behind a lectern.

The major events are usually covered on every news network (and often network affiliates). Still a lot of people standing behind lecterns. But C-Span does a better job of staying on the lectern and not having pundits coloring the news.

I visited both houses in September while in DC on vacation. What I saw live from the galleries was what one sees on C-Span. Raw news. I am not against it being in HD but as a "Public Interest" channel it is carried under different rules than most other channels.

Even if Directv never carries it in HD, once they drop MPEG2 (probably sometime year after next, but the schedule isn't clear) all the SD only channels should increase in quality. The reason the SD channels look so crappy compared to other providers' SD channels is because they are bandwidth starved on 101 and have to compress them more to make them fit. Once they are freed from that restrictions I'll bet the SD only channels look a lot better.

There are a few SD only MPEG4 channels, I imagine they look better than their MPEG2 SD counterparts for that reason, but I don't know any channel numbers off the top of my head.

Isn't NASA TV an MPEG4 SD channel? If yes I didn't see any great improvement in PQ once they switched it.

IMHO I'd prefer to see NASA go HD then CSPAN which is almost nothing but talking heads.

Yet we have CNN, MSNBC, Faux N.. I mean Fox News... all in HD and all largely talking heads the same as C-SPAN. I get it that C-SPAN falls under "public interest" but it's 2019 soon to be 2020. Let's get the C-SPAN's in HD along with NASA as well.

This isn't anything towards you James obviously.
