I think that it will be like the SEC Network. Just my hunch, certainly nothing official. You certainly will see ACC games on ESPN/ESPN2. I am sure Clemson football will find their way on to ABC, too. Just like you see SEC games on ESPN/ESPN2 and Alabama on ABC when they choose to put it there. That is great for the casual fan. But I want to watch every Duke football game and was many UNC and Syracuse games as possible. I want to watch all of those with basketball, too. And I am hoping that the ACC Network will give us more lacrosse than we have now and I would watch most of those Duke, UNC, and Syracuse games, too. Next year's Notre Dame vs Duke football game is already announced as a ACC Network by ESPN exclusive. That is also how Fox treats the Big Ten for BTN. There is even Big Ten hockey on BTN, which is never on Fox or FS1/FS2. If that is how the ACC Network is treated, bring it on and bring on ACC Network 2 if you want. If it's just filler programming 90% of the time with the old ACC Network by Raycom games and a few others without much more, it would certainly be less valuable. But I would still want it.

I also don't expect Notre Dame to be something to look for too often on the ACC Network. They do play a certain number of games per year vs. ACC teams since they are a faux-ACC-independent school, so this year and perhaps every now and then they will put them on the ACC Network. I certainly believe they are this year to attract as many people to want the channel as possible and get them to request their providers to carry it. I think they did the same thing with bigger games at the launch of SEC Network, they certainly did with the original OTA SEC Network that was treated like the former ACC Network by Raycom.

It is a tier 3 deal the same as the other conference networks, so it is replacing the OTA ACC "Network". The wild card is that like SECN ESPN controls the tier 1/2 rights for ACC so they can decide to have some more important games on ACCN than were on the OTA version.

If they want providers to pick it up mid-contract they'll have to make that possible like they did with SECN. They seemed to want to use stuff like ESPN streaming rights, HD versions of ESPNU etc. as leverage to try to force mid-contract renewals (at a higher price) which Directv & Dish didn't bite on. If they do the same with ACCN I don't see them biting. If they make it easy to do mid-contract pickup like they did with SECN then they will likely pick up ACCN.

    Following my Post #07:

I listed those four, from January 2018, because I had observed some programmers upgraded to HD, just prior to 2018, on AT&T’s U-verse that I was anticipating would follow suit on AT&T’s DirecTV.

I did not want to list, say, ten programmers. I did not know what kind of year—the year 2018—would be for upgrading programmers’ HD on AT&T’s DirecTV. So, I chose to not list more than five.

Wait when does D* s contract with ESPN expire ?

One thing I have noticed is when ESPN/Disney gets a new agreement , with a tv provider, they add ACC network but drop ESPN Classic .

This happend with Disney s new contract with fios and altice.

I found this but doesn't say how many years ??

They never seem to list how many years in those announcements, but the last one was for 7 years IIRC so it may be a few years before this renews.

Disney could allow providers to add ACCN under their current terms if they choose to do so, like they did with SECN, but if they try to use it as leverage to get early renewals (at a higher price, natch) I'm sure some would decide the loss of subscribers from not having ACCN would cost them less than the higher price they'd have to pay thanks to early renewal. Pac 12 Network has shown everyone that not having a conference network doesn't hurt very much.

    Time will tell.

My mom does too. It's a pretty horrible SD feed. One of the worst I've seen. Even my mom comments on it!

Think of the ACC Network as, well, the ACC version of the SEC Network. Exactly the same. The current rights to the ACC include Disney, plus 2 packages that belong to Raycom, one syndicated to local channels in ACC states, one syndicated to RSNs in ACC states. Those Raycom packages go away and Disney (ESPN) will own all the rights to ALL ACC games.

So, in terms of live sports, zero percent of the material will be duplicated. ESPN will hold all the rights to the ACC. So ESPN will parcel out the games between ABC, the "mothership", 2, U, e-news, and the ACCN. In an ideal world in roughly that order in terms of game importance.

But ESPN has used having important games on the newly launched channel as a leverage to launch channels, all the way back to the launch of ESPN2. So, especially in the first year, look for games that "should" be on a "higher" channel put on ACCN, so you and me customer will demand that it get on our system.

The rest of the time, the ACCN will have filler programming, repeats of recent games, repeats of "classic" games, and live sports other than men's basketball and football. It has apparently given up on the search for a Paul Feinbaum like character.

The very first event on ACCN will be Georgia Tech @ Clemson. That week's rights also include Florida @ Miami and South Carolina - North Carolina, and I would fully expect one of those to be on ACCN as well.

Did not know that, thanks for sharing.

If you remember the launch of the SECN, DirecTV was "unsigned" right up until a few weeks before launch. Of course, the management has changed, but I think and hope it will be the same. DirecTV remains the service of choice for sports fans, and sports bars, and missing important games in football and basketball, including Notre Dame the most nationally followed team, is a non-starter for DirecTV.

I know it was removed but how about a new Weather Nation channel but this time make it like the new Chaddar Tv channel which is really just an app that calls the live stream. This would not take any space up on the sat.
They could add tons of stream free channels this way. It would looks just lime a real channel

That cheddar channel does NOT work well, for me anyway. It usually freezes up the box and is generally just cumbersome to use. Why not just add it as a regular channel? And if it's an app, why not add it in the TV apps section?

Cheddar TV still has no audio. Today is January 26th. I have no idea why. It has been like this since my last post. One day it has audio. The next few days or more it doesn't. All my other channels in my package are fine. DIRECTV - What is up with this?

Just curious, but what's wrong with AccuWeather, that replaced it? And isn't 2 live weather channels enough? (ok, TWC is actually only 1/2 a weather channel...since it actually only has weather one 1/2 the time...but still... ;) )

It is also only half a channel. Most of the time is the exact same thing on a repeated loop. WeatherNation was much better. Three is better than two. Which is only sorta one. Isn't 40 reality Bravo-type networks enough?

If they can get the Cheddar fake channel which is really an app to work good think of the hundreds of other free web channels they could ad like Pluto does?
