Please use this thread to discuss your feelings about upcoming national HD channels.
This thread will not be as tightly moderated as the rest of the site, but here's the tradeoff...in exchange for being able to rant a bit more, you can be assured that absolutely no one at DIRECTV will be using this thread for reference.
You can ask for all the new HD you want, but DIRECTV's marketing department knows that the 100-150 contributors to this thread are only a small part of the nearly 20,000,000 total subscribers.
*Please remember that all forum rules are still in effect.
*Please do not "bump" this thread.
*Other threads that do nothing but anticipate HD channels for which there is no information will be closed.
*This is not a DIRECTV vs. Dish thread, there are other threads for that.
If you have any questions as to what belongs in this thread or an individual channel thread please read the latest DIRECTV Programming Forum Rules (Link).
Not all of them. And some are in the process of being dropped by some. Example, Fios is dropping Mav TV plus a bunch of SD channels mentioned in this thread like Blue Highways.
I'd love to see IFC HD by Jan 4th. There is a show called Portlandia starting then and it looks interesting. I'd like to get into it, but I'm not going to bother if it's just in SD.
Believe it or not I learned of it through a banner ad in the guide. The description sounded neat so I looked into it. Too bad AMC's sister stations IFC, WE and Fuse are all still in SD.
Interesting that banner ads in the guide promote SD shows. Sad when the resolution and clarity of the banner is far better than the show itself!

Portlandia is actually starting their 3rd season. I've watched a couple episodes in the past but since it's in SD only and I'm not into it enough to buy the DVD or Blu-Ray I've never really gotten into it. It was pretty good from what I've seen.
I'm hoping for H2 in the near term based on HD VOD availability. My other hope -- CSN Philadelphia -- substantially is more remote (both in terms of time and probability).

As fellow HD snob I completely understand where you are coming from on this. However, Portlandia is one of those extremely rare instances (I watched Mad Men in SD for years) where I make an exception and watch every episode despite the fact that it's in SD. My wife and I find the show to be hilarious.
TCN Philadelphia and CSN Philadelphia + is the same channel.
CSN Houston has some CSS content and it shows up from time to time on other CSN channels.
is HRTV HD yet??? and it's NOT A RSN channel
For Pac-12 the likely if directv add it will be like dish main network + part time game only feeds.

Channels marked in red are channels currently not available.
Omitted (non-DNS) all West Coast feeds due to previous comments made by Satelliteracer,
except for ION HD West given it's status as a broadcast network.
Special thanks go out to URFloorMatt from AVSForum.com for his charts, as well as to BigRedFan for her help regarding the Spanish Language Channels.
I wish I could. Safe to say they are on the various lists that are out there on this board, but whether they are the channels an individual wants varies person to person. Translation: everyone wants a different channel it seems so some come away happier than others. The good news is that more HD is coming and will continue to come after the next round.
In my opinion, there is something for everyone and the quantity will be nice. Most are deemed "basic" networks, as well.
I'm going to guess H2, Cooking, TVLand, and the two Encore channels as the adds, because the first are consistent with the recent VoD adds, and the last two beef up the higher tier programming while the yearly price increase (and yearly price increase beeyatching) is happening.
FOX Soccer / Plus may end soon or end up with a big changes.
as for fox college sports from the fox web site say most stuff is on the FS RSN channels with some stuff on the part time fox college sports channels and they have HD slots for them just not used.

Some of those are obvious "wife picks" but she should be able to see her shows in HD too, me thinks.
I'd love to get FMC HD, but I really do expect the HD VoD channels are likely to be at the top of the list of what we actually get priority-wise.
