so is that Wednesday or Friday ? or next weds?
Reading the SatelliteRacer signs, I'm expecting more than one day. As to which, I'm out of tea leaves right now.
By the way, one thing to consider, there are companies that are still very new to HD. Or even companies with lots of HD experience that are no converting new locations to HD. So if DIRECTV is part of the very first to launch HD publicly from these new companies/locations, the testing might be longer than the week we're used to.
(And as always, sometimes a problem can crop up, delaying a channel.)
Long before the 2Q or 3Q...
Speaking of 3Q...
Personally... I'm wondering if we'll see FXM-HD (Fox Movie Channel HD) in the 3Q.
It would be good timing to go along with the apparent Fox Soccer Channel re-branding to FXX in September.
Imagine that in an Anticipation thread!

Sweet, new HD this week!
anyone with the andriod or IPAD apps wanna chime in if the channel charts are updated to reflect said additions??..yet?..since you guys are usually the 1st to know
Not so far on the ipad.
Checked IFC and Encore Action for Friday and no HD shows up on the Ipad guide. I don't watch the other channels.
Still waiting...hoping....pleading!....for news regarding the Pac-12 Networks coming to DirecTV. We are missing so many games.
I'm guessing that there is a very short window to get a deal done before the wait begins to see if it gets done before the next football season starts. They have a little more than a month's worth of basketball coverage left until the tournament begins and then there will be a lull in high value programming on collegiate sports channels.
Nice! H2 baby!
Although I wonder how much it matters how we "vote" here, I will put in a plug for EWTN HD. The people who most watch that are not in the demographics group that would frequent this forum, but it does have some wonderful live coverage of world events, as well as other original programming that looks dreadful on a modern HD TV and DirecTV. Seeing the coverage of something like World Youth Day, a week-long gathering of over a million youth and young adults, is amazing and worthy of an HD broadcast. Or a papal visit to a third-world country shows events and scenes that in America is hard to find anywhere else.
I hope that EWTN gets into the list of HD channels one day, it would make a lot of happy (if not silent) people happy. It may just be, per the prior discussion of "groups served" (ie DircTV sports, Dish international etc.), it just may not be a fit for DirecTV; I surely don't know!
DirecTV still doesn't offer my locals, period. I have the distinct impression they never will be offered.
I would still like DirecTV to reconsider their ridiculous decision to remove GolTV in HD from the sports pack and place it in SD in a Spanish language package. This is a channel I watched in ENGLISH no less!
Boggles the mind...
Don't they have to eventually? Thought there was a law or something. Or am I misremembering.
No, I mean no locals - period.
SHVIA and SHVERA do not require satellite TV companies to offer local channels. Rather, they permit satellite companies to provide “local-into-local” service.
A satellite TV company that chooses to provide local-into-local service must provide subscribers with all of the local broadcast TV stations assigned to the subscriber’s DMA that have asked the satellite TV company to carry them.
What DMA are you in?
The largest one (by square miles) east of the Mississippi.
