That would be Comcast. They bought NBC/Universal from GE about a year ago. So Comcast now owns channels including SyFy, Bravo, MSNBC, Weather Channel, USA, Chiller, Cloo and G4 (soon to be rebranded.)

What an awesome start to the new year with 8 HD channels. No one should be complaining. :D

The only channel that is really missing that I watch programming on is OWN.

I don't think a HD feed is supplied to North America. I think the HD feed for BBC World News only exists on ASTRA satellites hovering over Europe. BBC World News is available on all sorts of FTA satellites worldwide so hotels and what not can pick it up, but only in SD.

The American providers that do carry BBC World News, carry it in SD.

That said, I won't complain if I get it in SD, as they have much better news coverage - you know ACTUAL news and not Glenn Beck screaming at us trying to convince us he is right or Anderson Cooper giggling his way through the Ridiculist..... no, actual NEWS.

    Not to mention "Being Human"...

All I know is that if I spent a bunch of money on launching an HD simulcast channel, I'd be promoting it over the SD feed. I feel that's what Discovery did with those two channels.

Apparently TWC in NYC has it in HD. (See this link that I posted 12/31/12.. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/491047-Time_Warner_Cable_Adds_BBC_World_News.php) Also, when you filter out all channels except HD using the TWC Manhattan on line schedule, it shows up as channel " 698 BBC World News HD". Maybe someone from that area can verify? Like you said though, even a decent quality SD version would be most welcome.

Just so you know, VH1C doesn't exist in HD anywhere. Viacom doesn't offer it. I too wish it did.

really we don't need it in hd since its the old vid's from the 80's and 90's I would just like to be able to get as another HD channel :p

I wish D* would come up with a way to upscale the non-hd channels to near hd :sure:

Actually the older music videos look good in HD. When HDNet started, they used to play groups of old music videos. I'm sure most were originally shot on film, so they translated well into HD.

Now that the channel is trying to go mainstream [AXS TV, Ryan Seacrest (Yuck)]. I don't watch it that much and I'm not sure they still show the videos.

So yes old music videos can look good in HD.

Many older music videos were actually shot in 35mm film, which would make it easy to convert to HD. Whether it is actually worth to do so, is another matter.

Regardless, the source tapes (and/or digitized versions thereof) of old shows, music videos, etc is usually of better quality then the SD signal that ends up on your TV, so many old shows, even though they may be 4:3 and come from an analog tape source in the 80s, actually look a lot better on a HD station.

Where can I find on Glenn Beck's TheBlaze on DTV? They should add that too, in HD.

With Game Lounge leaving next month. Does that mean we may see more HD channels?
