I would really like CNN International or BBC world. When are we going to get channels like that?
Great news. What is the usual timeline until we see them? D14 is the new satellite, correct? Does this mean the start of many more new HD additions? Hope so.
After Sundance, my only request for channels I watch is Esquire.
I would sort of like to have access to some channels I don't watch, but which I might if DirecTV carried them. Additional HD movie channels with some different offerings, for instance, would be very welcome. Flix, maybe? Here's hoping!
Flix doesn't have an HD feed.
If I have it correct—Flix is not yet available in linear high definition.
I look forward to the additions of BBC World News HD, Sundance TV HD, and We TV HD.
Since 2012, DirecTV has gradually made progress in catching up. But, still…
If I was asked to select 20 linear HD programmers, as if they were all to come in in 2015, and ones strictly from those currently carried only in SD on DirecTV, I would suggest the following:
01. 233 GSN HD
02. 235 Esquire Network HD
03. 240 Home Shopping Network HD
04. 251 Oxygen HD
05. 258 FX Movie Channel HD
06. 267 pivot HD
07. 287 America's Heroes Channel HD
08. 294 Discovery Family HD
09. 295 PBS Kids Sprout HD
10. 301 Nick Jr. HD
11. 326 Great American Country HD
12. 328 TV One HD
13. 339 Fuse HD
14. 341 El Rey Network HD
15. 347 Al Jazeera America HD
16. 425 Fox Deportes HD
17. 602 TVG HD
18. 605 Sportsman Channel HD
19. 606 Outdoor Channel HD
20. 625 Universal Sports HD
You might want to look one page back on BBC World News.
I was wishing directv would get the Epix channels, mainly for the boxing, but they have recently lost interest in showing any fights so while I would still like the channel its lost a little of its luster.
Hoping Nick Jr. will be HD soon as my TV has it on a lot...
Yeah I wish DirecTV would pick up Epix as well. I'd like to see them go on channels 560-563.
They could be like this:
560 EPIX HD
561 EPIX2 HD
562 EPIX3 HD
563 EPIX Drive-In
I'd like CNNI HD too. They air it on regular CNN overnights and it seems to stick more to the facts and stay away from opinions/analysis/speculation from so called "experts". Same reason I want the 24/7 HD feed every individual channel they show on MHZ WorldView.
BBC World News HD is coming "soon", BTW. Test feed is already up.
Thanks for the corrections on Flix. I was probably thinking of Epix. Fox Movie Channel would be nice too. They sometimes have movies I would watch, but I am rarely willing to put up with standard definition anymore.
CNNI's HD programming is only available via CNN, the 24/7 feed of CNN International for North America is SD only. Only Asia and Europe have the HD feed of CNNI.
The current status of the channels when it comes to their feeds to North America:
Arirang: SD only
Blue Ocean Network: SD only
CCTV-News: SD only
CCTV-9 Documentary: SD only
CNC World: SD only
Deutsche Welle: SD only
euronews: SD only
France 24: SD only
Kazakh TV: SD only
RT: Available in HD
NHK World: Available in HD
RTE: Originates from RTE One which is only available in Ireland and parts of the UK
I'll take those two then. Larry King is on RT, I've always liked him, and my gf loves all things Japanese. Al Jazeera America HD would be nice too. The others all need to launch an HD feed and/or make the current feed available in the US. It's 2015!
With Sundance and BBC World News coming, all I have left to wish for are AL Jazeera America, OuterMAX, and the remaining encore channels. Get those and you won't hear a peep from me again
Its not so easy for international channels, it costs money to rent commercial satellite space to downlink programming to the US but hardly anyone carries international programming and those who offer it don't have very much subscribers.
The channels have to spend more to rent the additional bandwidth to deliver HD. There's a reason those international packages are pretty pricey, start adding a lot of HD channels in them and they'll charge even more.
This is a case where streaming may make more sense than broadcast...
still really only want universal sports hd and i will be happy.
If there are 2 channels in test at the new satellite D14,this means that they will begin to put new HD channels in the next few weeks?

My guess is it will happen on 2/27 or soon after. See message on 346-1. "On 2/27, NASA TV will move from Channel 346 to 352". This will make room for BBC World News.
Why does DirecTV still have DOGS TV..its the most random kind of a channel to have?, who really watches it..or how can it still be on air?
You think that's random - or bad - go take a look at the seven .TV channels that FiOS "offers." A bigger waste of bandwidth, time and space you'll never find.
