We'll be just fine.
I never called anyone names, thanks for playing. I said Swanni ignorantly bashes Directv & that he's clueless. Did I offend one of his fans?
As for Directv being silent...no, they haven't. Ads are plentiful touting "up to 200 HD channels," which is a hyped number to motivate the customers, that I guess you seem to want.
It seems normal for a CEO/CFO to mention sometime unique (new Cinema service).
The additional HD channels, already mentioned in the commercials, is basic and expected.
one again swanni doesn't have a clue:nono2:
D* could add 3 or 4 more HBOs, MAX etc and that'd equal more then 400 movies per month
ME... BOB for ONE.... hates he's off this thread.... He has said things we all think and hate might happen...... ME .. BOB FOR ONE will dump D*tv... I have be loyal for 3 years but don't care at all about some stupid PPV channels...... I've been silent throughout D-11 and the 35 PPV channels and the CEO saying we're filled up and have to wait for D-12..... then get this same mess about new PPV......... I'm almost fed up and I don't think it's fair. I'd like to go back to 3 years ago when "BACK TO THE FUTURE" promised 200 HD channels..... I DON'T THINK THE COMMERCIAL MEANT PPV!!!!
Herb thinks people who spend too much time talking about themselves in the third person need to let go of the melodramatic literary devices.
He also thinks Swanni is an idiot who hypes negative news about the biggest satellite TV provider in order to drive ad views and drum up revenue. Herb finally wonders what people will be whining and complaining about by mid-June?
Nick said, "plus one," as he laughed out loud.
This is some good common sense posting here, /me will read and re-read
When did they ever PROMISE 200 channels. I only remember them saying they will have the capacity for 200 channels, They have never even said the will have 200 channels, only the capacity for 200. Their latest ad reads: The most full time channels in HD, now with the capacity for 200+ HD channels — twice as many as cable on average.
For the record Herb.... I really appreciate everything you, Sixto and others contribute.. I usually only read comments..... not comment!!!
When I signed up for Directv, about three years ago, the commercial for Directv stated 200 HD channels (from the film "Back to the Future")..... this was before D-? blew up...... and before Directv started adding PPV....
You must be in some other time line.
And when answers are given, especially to a question slanted in a particular way, others bash those that do answer the questions because it's contrary to what the person asking believes.
what is the truth? When D12 is activated, we will ALL find out. Before then, it's mostly speculation, with the exception of a post by Satelliteracer, who is considered very reliable, and posted that most will be happy with the additions.
A) They will now.
B) Yes, they did: LINK
C) The CEO said they currently have 15 PPV titles and that they WILL have 400. If he meant "On Demand" titles, why didn't he say 150?
D) Great. Fill my DVR with more useless crap against my will.
E) This is definitely in keeping with D* counting skills.
F) Going from 15 PPV to 400 PPV implies White is not talking about "On Demand". I'm sorry, make that going from 7.5 to 200.
G) No argument there.
I did the math, and it still sounds like mostly PPV to me. Of course we'll just have to wait and see.
Look at the Link again...
expanding its pay-per-view lineup to nearly 400 titles (half available on the same day the DVD is released), up from the 15 titles provided today.
"half available on the same day the DVD is released"
Show me the last time the industry released 200 titles on the same Tuesday that people would pay for.
There is no timing here. They could release 200 titles on the same day they are released on DVD.. maybe 15 this Tuesday + 12 next Tuesday + 20 the Tuesday after that and so on... 52 Tuesdays in a year....
It might be easy to offer 400 PPV movies through the DOD... don't forget that a lot of DOD is PPV.
Go to channel 1100.. there are alreayd at least 150 PPV movies available on demand.
Also they aren't filling YOUR hard drive.. they are filling THEIR reserved section of the hard drive.
You know, People, if I had the ability, I'd close this thread (simply because this is a great line on which to end) with this final philosophy that has always served me well:
Hope for the best but expect the worst and you'll never be disappointed.
Last night I had a dream that I turned on ESPNU HD and we had it in glorious HD.
Imagine the disappointment when I woke up.
If everyone expected the worst, most of us would have left DirecTV by now. I still have some faith in them.
