There where also 2 HD bonus channels as well + mix
and they moved UHD out of HD extra as well.
I just checked NBCOlympics.com and clicked TV listing and typed in my zip code and it said select your local affiliate - WEYI (on 25 like it usually is) or KNBC (L.A.) on channel 83. I guess they're turning on the DSN feeds so everyone gets NBC HD? Seems like I'd get WNBC N.Y.C. though...
As has been pointed out earlier in this thread, there are a few more major sports events coming up. One or two of them won't have coverage on any of the RSNs so the dependence on CinemaHD channels will likely remain to some extent.
One place they can already get existing bandwidth is the 101 Network. I was going through the guide looking for channels that I would like to see go HD and found that this one network is listed 3 different times. Its a great channel but dont need 3 of the same one.
A single channel (datastream) can be mapped to any number of channels in your guide. It doesn't take up any bandwidth to have 101 duplicated.
Great? What's great about it? They air every show on it 10,000 times. The only daily program is a simulcast of a radio show. And why does the score guide pop up on it? The only thing close to a sporting event I've ever seen on it was a celebrity beach volleyball tournament which was just a giant ad for NFLST.
They will likely use the Sunday Ticket Bandwidth on the Olympics.
If filmmakers are "delicate" and "self-absorbed" because they want to make their films their way, what would one call viewers who whine because some films don't fill up the entirety of their television screens?
Is there anything in this thread besides wishful thinking? Does anyone have any reasonably accurate hearsay from DirecTV?
Maybe the mods can make a sticky so we don't end up asking the same question 30 times and rummaging through 1,000 posts that say "i'd like channel xxx" or "I wish we had yyy"
Actually, the purpose of this thread is hearsay. When there is actual news, we post it in its own thread. This thread is to give people a place to vent their complaints and anxiety.
This thread helps keep me sane. On that note, I’d really, really, really love to change my avatar.
I got some info for you--the first wave of HD channels to launch include ESPNU, Fearnet, FSN's, WGN, Hallmark, outdoor channel and a few more. Those are the first D* will add....other website has the source and info on that. Sorry if it has been mentioned already.
Awaiting the first real hints that it might be reality.
Please list the source of that information. That is a highly unlikely list, we don't even have Fearnet in SD.
I thought for sure DirecTV would've added a couple of new HD channels, once Sunday Ticket was done for the season, oh well...
There u go...forgot about MSNBC HD and The Africa Channel...not sure what The Africa Channel is though. But expected in the first wave.....
there is the link to the original thread topic.
And for the folks that don't want to go to SatGuys, the list that a DirecTV empolyee posted of what he's been told is:
The Africa Channel
CSN Bay Area
The outdoor channel
I would think that MSNBC might show up before 2/12 so that they can have the Olympics coverage on HD.
Wow, 13 new channels may be coming. Sixto did notice 14 new test channels up about a month ago.
As in the past though, I'll believe it when I see it.
That list seems reasonable on some level... but rollouts change all the time. Sometimes even the day before.
