There is also a difference in how much a company wants to give up for certain things. Dish refuses to "give up" whatever they feel is not justified for YES, Extra Innings, etc. DirecTV doesn't want to "give up" whatever they feel is not justified for AMC.

The conditions may not be onerous when national "basic" channels are you bread and butter but may be onerous when your focus is broader and more sports oriented.

I push for all channels even if I don't watch them. It's not all about me, it's all about HD. :D

Me too, except Travel Channel...I wish they'd drop SD & HD feeds. ;)

I actually watch it every day since we got it.

I never said FiOS was perfect, just right for me. The channels I want at the highest quality. However, I'll never get FiOS unless I move. DIRECTV it is...

I am really not waiting. I am pretty happy. The only show I watch regularly that is not in HD is Doctor Who and I buy the Blu Rays because I love that show so much. I watch some old movies on TCM but for SD, it looks pretty damned good.

Obviously, I would like more HD just like Michael Jordan likes more money, but I read and converse in this thread because it is fun.

Which channels are those? I am confused since you chime in on things you have no interest in (March Madness). They really only have IFC, AMC and Nat Geo Wild. And are missing some others.

    Outdoor channel HD
    World Fishing network HD

    And the three you listed.

More importantly, I want all the video quality I can get.

    +1

One former negative with Fios was the HD DVR capacity, but (I believe) they have a larger capacity model now.

You mean like the one they issued for the enhanced MMM coverage for 2011?

An advertisement flyer is not the same as an official press release.

That's not an official announcement (such as a press release), it's an advertisement which requires additional lead time. They often go out before things are absolutely set in stone. It's a risk and sometimes you get burned. They got burned on that one. It sounds like they wanted to do it, but other members of the party didn't want to dance.

The ones who got burned are any people who saw the advertisement and joined Directv at least partly because of it only to now be locked into a 2 year commitment. I'm sure Directv feels really sorry for them on the way to cashing their monthly check.

It was a flyer that went out to current customers...you know...people who are already customers.

you just can't reason with some people, D* could drop the HD they have now and some people would defend them with a lame ass excuse.

Let's please focus more on what we want and less on how other people behave. Thanks.

I want more basic national HD. I'm focusing hard on that, hopefully I'll get something more than just a headache.

    Excellent focus.

I hope that you are very pleased and thems who want other HD are happy too. :)

(I don't expect we'll get everything in the poll this year.) :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

If we do as well as the predictive power of last year's poll (8 of the top 13), I'll likely be very pleased. . . well, plus switch one out for AMC. . . probably once Cablevision spins them off, but I'll take it sooner if that can happen. :)
