You damn right and I for one couldn't be happier.
I'm sure there's a audience for it. Just wish DirecTV would hit a "line drive" instead of "bunting" when it comes to adding more HD.
Are you sure Hutch, with his numerous posts every single day H205 has finally convinced you Directv has the most successful business model (and do NO wrong) in the history of the world! Man if every company would just follow their business model "oh what a wonderful world it would be!!!". ROFLMAO!!!
And "soon" it will be even better WOW! How do they do it?
I am sure that there are some complicated contractual items and issues at play. It may not be as simple as it may seem to those of us not privy to the details.
Great find! Thanks for the good news!
I have never suggested that they have the most successful business model in the world, only within their own satellite television realm.
thats awesome, i will use this quote...
All full time channels are tested prior to launch and they probably don't have the time to do it correctly prior. It's much easier to use a part-time feed by throwing it on one of the PPV/sports package slots for a few hours with much less risk of the broadcast being interrupted.
Very interesting! Can you outline what the procedures for testing are, and how long it generally takes? Days? Weeks?
There are people with far more knowledge of the process than myself, but from what I've seen reported, channels are added 'in test' (usually but not always on a Wednesday) then go live 7 days later if there aren't problems.
Well that is good news for us wanting more 'basic HD'. Once again, sports rises to the top of the HD list.
So after all that nope, nope, not gonna happen. . . it happened?
Congrats to the NCAA hoops fanatics!
And while TruTV is not my personal cup of tea, it is "basic HD" for those who claimed D* customers would never see another one added in HD, and the ratings are actually pretty high in that group of channels that D* doesn't have yet. So it'll be a good perm add for later in the year, even if not so much for me.
I'd have to think the odds of those showing up when TruTV shows up as a perm just increased significantly.
wonder if I'll be shot down for this...ok here it goes
Shows you the NCAA has more pull than the Olympics..I'm referring to the no MSNBC HD for the Winter Games and the events that fell on MSNBC back when we didnt have it in HD...and how the NCAA Mens BB seems to of carried a bit of weight here..hmmm SOON people SOON..
SatRacer's comment "there will be more HD" has officially been fulfilled:
Tru-TV HD will be here in time for the NCAA tourney. It will be bumped back to SD after the NCAA is over, but DirecTV has said that it will be added later this year as a permanent channel.
So... now we know that "more HD is coming" for sure. 1 channel is after all.... still "more HD".
Awaiting NEW comments from SatRacer now about more (basic) HD.
I don't recall D* having a new bird with 33 empty slots on it at the time either tho. MSNBC HD has been added since.
See the definition of "soon" in my signature.
figured I would be shot down...nice guess on my part
of course it has more pull....ask Vegas. It's so much money involved with NCAA Tournament it will blow your mind. From the betting to the sponsorships to the television revenue...it's arguably the biggest sporting event of the year
finally something new from D*.
