Not so different from what Comcast did with World of More, on an even bigger scale. I'd say about 2.5 years it took them. But of course Comcast didn't have the option of just launching a new bird to alleviate their bandwidth issues.
But bandwidth clearly really isn't the issue right now for D* anyway.
I couldn't agree more Dork.
I didn't spend all that money for a High Def. T.V. to watch S.D. programs. If I was 'happy' with S.D. i would have kept using my old CRT T.V. The non Hi-Def. looks better on a CRT set anyway.
I think if any T>V> station offers Hi-Def. it should be REQUIRED that DirecTV (or ant other service) airing iy in Hi_Def. Maybe the FCC shoukd step in!
That's absurd. Governemnt mandates on what content to carry?
I can understand if you are less than satisfied but what your are suggesting is completely whacked out.
If that were to come to pass, there would be no need for multiple content providers since they would all be carrying the same programming as per federal regulation. More importantly, you've started down the path where the goverment mandates what we cannot have as well.
there advertising just the first four games of the tourney, so i wouldn't put much stock in them going hd.. id like to see them......... trutv-IDhd--amchd and what ever else...they could throw our way...
Yeah, I thought about "what if the FCC steps in". But that opens a whole new door that we won't want to venture.
Anyways, they seem to screw things up when they don't let the free market decide.
By the same token, should every supermarket be required to carry every item any other store does? Where's Food and Drug when you need them?
and.....Without hardly any new HDm DirecTV is Raising their rates this Month!!!!!
Price increases are an annual event, just like with DISH and the cable companies. It is like the 4th of July, it will be there every year.
Just got an email that another Latin channel was added... Peru Magico, 431 to my package....sorry if it was already posted.
A Latin channel? I love Latin! It's a great language... pity no one speaks it outside the Vatican.
I think he's suggesting that if a carrier carries it at all, they have to carry it in HD if the provider is providing it in HD. Not that they have to carry every channel.
I believe there actually are some FCC rules about that for cable companies, with exceptions, waivers granted, etc. . and possibly only applying to broadcast channels (i.e. not cable channels).
So essentially what you are saying is that HD is unnecessarily. I agree that content is king, but I would rather have the content I like in the best possible presentation than not. I'm pretty sure the people who create/produce the content would too.
What's amazing about this thread is that people are no longer really defend DirecTV or hope against hope that the channel they want in HD will come. People now act like it's silly that people expect more HD or think it should be added. It suggests absolute disillusionment amount subscribers. I don't think that's something DirecTV should be proud of.
Thanks for posting this answers a lot of questions I had about the mtn going full time HD.
I asked the poster of that which you quoted to specify what higher ups, what company. A cite would be nice, too. A cite of a site, if you will.
That’s where I find myself regarding additional basic HD. I recall my great (and, in retrospect, misplaced) excitement watching the launch of D11. My interest level regarding the potential use of D12’s capacity has dropped substantially and, at this point, I care not one whit about D14.
what channel the latin channel on?
I get 95% of the HD I want from Directv and most of the rest via my Roku box. But maybe this is another step down that path of being told what we cannot have?
