C'mon SatRacer...by now you should know many here are self appointed negotiation gurus who know exactly how Directv should be run.

Since you want to be a smart***, I'll explain it to you in a manner that even a 5 year old can understand. The purpose of scoreguide is to keep up with all the games in every sport without your eyes having to leave the game and channel that you are watching negating the need for using any other device. It also allows you to turn to that game directly from the scoreguide menu seamlessly and efficiently

SatRacer can you explain why all the other content providers can come to terms with program providers and Directv (the so-called leader) can't? Don't give me the two to tango nonsense.

Nope, but I'm smart enough to realize Directv is doing something right since profits & subscribers continue to rise in crappy times.

And adding some basic HD channels would change that?

Obviously DIRECTV should have put more effort into putting every single HD channel up--regardless of the cost to the consumer. They should have rolled over to every request for more money by every little or large channel. Because that is what a leader does. Ensures that we, the paying customer, have every single channel because we can afford that expense... :)

Or maybe DIRECTV has heard many of our screams about cost... :)

Negotiations are weird beasties. Sometimes they go smoothly, sometimes they seem to go smoothly, sometimes there ain't no pretense--it's going to be tough.

    Cheers,
    Tom

All other content providers can come to terms? Really? Dish has MLBN, ABC Family HD, ESPNewsHD? TWC has NFL Network? Etc...The list goes on. No one has it all.

    Great Exaggerating Tom.

If the other providers were missing the same channels that might make sense!

How do you know other providers signed good deals? They could've agreed to short deals that when expired could put the channel owners at a better position to demand more.

    We don't know.

I'm hearing Don Adams: "Ah, the old 'all the other providers' trick"....

How come they all don't have NFL ST, Center Ice, MLB, NFL network, etc., etc., etc.?

    Some answers:
    Timing of renewals
Desperation of some MSOs to have "something and now"
Cable companies able to "claim" they have channels--when they only have them in NY and nowhere else.
    Relationships

    Cheers,
    Tom

You forgot to mention that it moved off standard basic and to digital preferred for Xfinity. On their forums, people are screaming about that move.

I have no idea if they tried harder, if they made a bad deal which will mean a higher price increase for their customers, etc. Each MSO has to do what they think is right. Did Xfinity\Comcast not try hard enough to get NFL Sunday Ticket? Did they not try hard enough to get Boomerang in all their systems? How about WGN? Etc, etc.Why are those channels and others missing? I guess D* just tried harder with those channels.

Every MSO is going to have some channels that some other MSO doesn't. This is the reality of bandwidth, contractual deals, and other circumstances.

Your premise is faulty. The other program providers haven't come to terms.

Where is YES and 20 other missing channels on DISH?

Where is NFL Network on Time Warner, Charter, Cablevision?

Where is Boomerang and 20 other missing channels on Xfinity?

    Sorry, your premise is faulty.

SatRacer although Directv frustrates me at times, I still prefer their service and I do sincerely appreciate your input and information.
