I think you're making assumptions. You don't know what the contract situation is.

Eight of the top thirteen from last year's poll here at DBST were added within six months.

Which is not to make the claim that's why they were added. Correlation is not causality.

And this year, it appears, D* did their own version as well. There's no evidence I'm aware of that they did last year. It is of course very difficult to prove a negative, but since Sixto became aware pretty quickly of this year's official D* poll by being tipped by a participant, I think it likely the same would have happened last year as well if there had been an official D* poll.

While I don't know if there was exactly a poll per se, but I know every so often DIRECTV does marketing surveys and research. They watch that carefully. :)

    Cheers,
    Tom

Sorry I'm a newbie to Directv and didn't realize that. Dumb of me to say what I did without knowing the facts. Hopefully this poll works as well as last year's did.

Are you sure Mad Men is included ? They don't say all the TV shows will be available in the "free stream" package. I have a feeling they will keep new releases of both movies and TV series outside the deal. Can anybody confirm it or not ? I know it's off topic but since it doesn't look like we will ever see AMCHD on Directv...

Humm, Fashion TV had no interest? Very crystal clear HD with beautiful scantly dressed models parading around 24x7. It does get old after a couple hours, I must admit. :D

Maybe the question should be what's wrong with you Turner, Rainbow and Comcast? Takes 2 to tango.

You must be a city guy to make such a presumptuous and arrogant taunt. Us country folk are the media forgotten: stuck with monopolies. Zero cable. Zero ATT content. And I'd go with Dish in an instant except they don't carry San Jose Sharks games since they dropped CSNCA and CSNBA. Moment they do, I am so outa the D* ghetto of crapulence and customer neglect.

Coming from you I'll take being called presumptuous and arrogant as a compliment. I'm far from being a "city guy". I live on a 52 acre ranch. It's good ol boy country, yet my neighbors and I are not media forgotten and stuck with monopolies. We have all the horns and whistles (cable, ATT content, ect.). The difference between us and you is that we chose to live where these options are available. I have my wish list for HD channels that I would like to see DirecTV provide (AMC, BBCA, TCM, FMC). Hasn't happened yet. However, unlike you and others I don't sound off like some whin'y tit complaining about the lack of my personal selection of HD channels and threatening to leave DirecTV first chance I get. Life's full of disappointments. Again, if your that unhappy with DirecTV then pacify yourself and go with another service provider.

Please everyone, do not criticize Directv, it really upsets some of the posters here. We owe it to them to only praise every decision that Directv makes. It doesn't matter that most of us prefer Diectv to any other provider and would simply like them to make use of some of their extra bandwidth to provide us with some HD channels. Just keep that feeling to yourself and everyone here will be happy.

How does the old SNL routine go? "Well, at first it was interesting. Then is was really interesting. Then it got really, REALLY interesting. Then, it wasn't so interesting."

For me it's like this, all providers cannot please everyone. We "whin'y tits" know that. For me, DIRECTV sucks less than the others. That is why I stick with DIRECTV. If FiOS was in my area you wouldn't be reading this post. ;)

Basic HD is all we're asking for.......
