Not sure if this is complete. What springs to mind among the missing....
Comcast/NBC Universal programming (with HDs):
Comcast SportsNet Northwest HD
Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia HD
E! Entertainment Television HD
PBS Kids Sprout HD
Style Network HD
TV One HD
^ Forgot FEARnet. (Sorry!)
I haven't lately been a great watcher of E!, but I am happy that DirecTV is finally adding the channel in HD.
Currently, like many people here, I only watch The Soup and, editorially, the show generally attacks E!'s own programming.
Whatever I might think about it however, the programming is available to most subscribers of DirecTV, is known for original programming (we aren't getting Thriller E! 3 Or E! Criminal Intent), and reflects rating/viewership.
If people have problems with the addition Of E! HD, I think the the real problem is with the limited basic HD additions since D10. People who want "their" channel in HD should be happy when other people other people get "their" channel in HD.
Thrilled to have E! HD ... my wife has been complaining about why it was not in HD. Now BBCA would be nice.
My wife is thrilled!
Of course in that poll some channels were not listed. Like BBCA!
Well, actually it was.
It (BBCA) was #1 in the poll, with 66% popularity for the 1461 DBSTalk members who voted. 519 of 1461 voted it their first choice, with 61% as "strongly interested".
The next choice (TCM) was 21 points lower, with only two other channels besides BBCA (TCM, DIY) with more then 100 1st place votes.
Of those HD Channels with greater then 25% popularity, there were 8.
2 (TruTV, E!) have/will be added since, we're 25% there with the top 8, hopefully more this year.
And we always been asked to consider that DBSTalk is not necessarily representative of America in general. Geeks in general.
Considering how many people I know that watch stuff like Jersey Shore, it's not surprising BBCAHD is not up yet...
Thanks, that was my recollection. Keep in mind D* does their own research and surveys as well, which will skew differently than here as I suspect about 95% of DBS Talk participants are male.
Which probably mirros life where 95% of the males have the remote control.
Maybe in old-fashioned households...
Where I come from... the women have all the power, and that includes control over the remote control!
You must be in the 5% then, every household I visit the male is in firm control of the TV.
Here also. That is, on her TV.
I didn't say MY house.
However, in pretty much every other household I know of, the only time the male has the remote is when the female is feeling generous or uninterested in TV.
Solved that here.
She has her 1080p TV/HR34, I have my 1080p TV/HR34.
She's rarely at my HR34, I'm often at her's, but when at her's I've always got the remote, until she wants control, then it's off to my TV.
Thanks. I went looking for it and couldn't find that poll.
But I remember one, and I thought it was the last one, that had left out a few channels because of some reason that I can't recall.
It did leave out channels; AMC, FMC, G4, HBO, and Cinemax.
AMC, HBO and Cinemax due to them apparently already being planned.
G4 most likely because it was unimportant since DirecTV did not intend on carrying it anymore period.
Wow! My 'remembering' is slipping these days. Maybe 'cause I'm OLD!!
Here's the last poll if you want to check it out:
