I said back to topic, but I had to reply to this:

I have DVRs! I pay additional money every month so that I don't have to watch to LIVE TV... if I'm watching something and it's on at that time, I let it sit in the buffer some!

It still doesn't answer the question. Anyone can throw out a date for an HD launch. I wish there were more facts as to when. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Yep. Usually there will be some sort of confirmation from DirecTV on Facebook or Twitter about a day, maybe 2 days before.... sometimes there isn't any confirmation and it just goes live (and Swanni can run with the glory), sometimes SatelliteRacer or a mod with some inside info is allowed to spill the beans, but that usually co-incides with the same time the Twitter/Facebook staff is told that they can now talk about it.

Personally, I think once a HD goes into "test" mode, and there is every intention to launch it, DirecTV should allow release of information, but it is a closely guarded secret. :D

I can confirm. I travel to the Delaware Valley for work frequently. At the hotel that I usually stay at, they have D*. Of course, the only Phillies games shown at this hotel are on one of the OTA channels. On those other night's, the bar at the hotel is deserted. At one of the nearby restaurants, they have Comcast in the bar area and it is always packed on Phillies game nights.

On page 13, post #310 the poster Satellite Fans said that Jim Norton said that Epix is coming to DirecTV in July. The poster has got a link to were Jim Norton said this but no one is commenting on this. Why is no one commenting about Epix coming to DirecTV in July? Satelliteracer is Epix coming to DirecTV in July?

There is conversation of that several pages upstream. SR's contribution was to point out that Norton is a comedian, which didn't seem very hopeful.

Because until something is actually in test mode, speculation outside this board is just as good as within DBSTalk.

Now don't get me wrong, I do like to have Epix. But not many around these parts are craving more premiums.

It's a weak (condescending, really) argument to say because he is a comedian he doesn't know anything. He does business directly with Epix. He works in the building where John Malone is a major shareholder.

I brought it up when he said it before his special to see if someone here had heard something. He reiterated it again after his special, so he definitely said it on purpose. He heard it from someone, it's whether that someone is credible that is the question.

Lesson for you. SatRacer is not usually allowed to make outright statements, so he hints. He jokes. It is not condescension. It is saying things without saying them.

I know a well known one, actually. He is smart and well informed. That doesn't mean he knows anything in particular about a particular subject.

It wasn't a personal shot against him, but the piling on afterward.

I don't get it. Do you think he does one-liners when negotiating contracts?

Doesn't look good as far as an Epix launch.
