    BBCA/NGW/H2...the remaining premiums...
for the NYC area(which is where I'm from)...ION affiliate in HD plz...I cannot wait for the LIL testing forums to tell me they see this in test one day..!! PLZ!!

question slightly off topic, but on the HD forefront

anyone noticing on the olympic mix channels, in that the HD quality surpasses the regular channels??..since its only soccer & basketball its hard to compare their events to other channels, since thats what they're used for..events that arent on the other channels...

I noticed today when the basketball USA was playing France (since all the TEAM USA Mens games are on NBC Sports Network anyways) ..The Mix channel (752) looked alot better than NBC Sports Network..Check it out & do the mix & match next game thats on Tuesday 5pm...when the mens team plays Tunisia..

The trade off is that you get matrixed sudo 5.1, while NBC Sports Network is sporting true DD 5.1.

    I have a feeling....

that the other's feelings are about the Pac 12 channels and not H2.

    +1 here too;

Though I can receive the local ION affiliate KPAX-30 in HD OTA with my AM-21N

The Mix channel is on 750, and you're comparing the PQ of a thumbnail video which is what, inches in size and a few hundred x a few hundred pixels in resolution to that of a full screen one?

Wow ... I commend your eyesight as I can't even see a thumbnail video well enough to compare it's quality with much of anything. :)

No. He was comparing 752 (the Olympic Basketball channel) to 603. 752 shows all of the basketball games. The US games are also shown on one of the regular channels (603 this weekend, but I do not know where the next games will be).

750 is the mix channel. 751 is the soccer channel, and 752 is the basketball channel.

OK, after carefully re-reading I understand now. His reference to the "mix channels" threw me for a while as I thought he was talking about the collection of thumbnail videos comprising channel 750. :)

    Winters,...
There are three sports mix channels: 205, 600 and 750, the latter being labelled "OLY". Right now, the three are almost concurrent, but yesterday, 600 had more Olympic links than 750. (!) They seemed to be controlled by different personnel, but now maybe they're coordinating.

In any event, they are down-rezzed SD. Ugh.

Speaking of Olympics stuff, I gotta be honest...

I'm a little surprised that DirecTV didn't put a temporary Telemundo feed up on one of the core satellites, even if it's SD only, and authorizing it for markets without a local affiliate.

It was weird seeing it in the mix channels, yet not being able to tune to it in the 400s.

Don't you just need a Spanish language package for that?
I mean.... NBC Sports Network is also not in all packages.

From what I hear though, the coverage is virtually identical to what is on the NBC Networks in English. That is, they combine some coverage also shown on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC and give Spanish commentary. They are focused a bit more on sports more popular among Latinos (such as Boxing), and they may have a bit more profiling on Mexican athletes, but other than that..... nothing you see on Telemundo won't air on the other channels.

Unlike NBC Sports Network, Telemundo is on the 119° satellite.

Though I've had it on in the background these past few days, I'm not really following the Olympics, nor do I speak Spanish, so it's not really important to me personally.

Though I'm sure it's partially related to this, DirecTV has been putting quite a bit of focus on Spanish language locals lately, and Telemundo, with it's Olympics coverage has been greatly added lately... yet there's quite a few markets out there without a Telemundo affiliate, so I'm a little surprised they didn't work out a deal where they offered a temporary feed for the Olympics on the core satellites free to those in markets without an affiliate.

That doesn't really have anything to do with DirecTV (unless the Audience Network picks it up) but with TV stations carrying the series. I don't know if the series currently airs on *any* TV network. If no one airs it, it won't be on DirecTV, nor any other carrier.

That said, the DVD for both seasons is available from amazon.com
