    SR is always around.

Basic does not sell. Ask Dish. Ask Comcast.

Directv is doing a good job of selecting things rather than just throw basics up willy nilly.

No, Larry, they don't got to.
Net loss of subs is due to a ton of factors, and lack of some HD channels is far down the list as to causes.

Wow BBCA and Nat Geo Wild in HD this month? That's FANTASTIC! More HD after that? Even better!

I hope DIY HD comes soon along with many more stuff on our lists!

Not quite. History is written after rather fact and it is spun but a great deal of facts still get through. Reality TV writes history before it happens. Reality TV is largely scripted or at least sketched out.

Once Thursday night football starts (Sept 13, Bears at Packers), those games are on the NFL Network. That's when I begin to overdose on football - NFL on Thursdays, Sundays, and Mondays, local HS on Fridays, and Purdue on Saturdays. Only Tuesday and Wednesdays off to rest up :)

what a slap in the face to Viacom huh??...a childish quarrel by both sides...tactics on both sides questionable...Channels pulled, then lets come back to the table...and take EPIX while you're at it...D* says no...status quo the exact amount of channels pulled are the exact channels that come back.. No epix...

    and BAM

    D* makes a deal for ****2 NEW other HD channels...hows that feel V* ??
anyone other than me thinks these deals were brokered during the pull?? or were they agreed to some time ago and kept under wraps very nicely?

    ****maybe more per SR's hints

I'd Guess both HD prospective additions; BBC America and Nat Geo Wild, have been in the pipeline for quite sometime.

Wow, NGWHD too? Wasn't on my personal list, tho I might watch from time to time. I've certainly seen some passionate proponents for the channel on this thread, and #6 on the last poll here at DBST, so I'm happy for them.

I'll be very curious to see if this is more "6 per" when Sixto sees the changes.

If so, then there is every reason to be optimistic about more to come as well in the mid-term pre-D14 future. DIYHD, baby. . .

But, for now, I am VERY pleased about getting BBCAHD, and when I posted that news on my FB page, I got several "likes", and some drooling, from friends of mine who are DirecTV customers that never post in places like this. . .but are still very pleased to be getting Doctor Who in HD for the beginning of this next season!

I have a feeling there are several channels they have permission to launch in hd, but they had to get ready for them from a technical standpoint. I'd bet these where signed way before Viacom, although I have no idea for sure, and it we ever will know for a fact. I'd also be surprised if the new deal with Viacom didn't include DIRECTV the rights to broadcast all their channels in Hi Definition, although maybe they have the discretion to which the launch in Hi Definition.

You're becoming a little too famous, huh?! ;)

Regarding your first statement, yeah, as I stated in the past, I read a press release about a channel agreement between DirecTV and Hallmark that gave DirecTV the rights to carry Hallmark Channel in HD and Hallmark Movie Channel in SD and HD. Both of them came around two years afterwards shortly before D12 was put into service, and of course HMC was HD only.

As I stated previously as well, my hope is that any new agreement included TV Land HD.

A journalist COULD still name him... both for confirming, as well as the additional hint.

Of course, a journalist with integrity would ASK his permission first, but very few of those exists these days...

Then again, we're talking about journalists, and I don't consider Swanni one, so... :D
