Don't even get me started on Star Trek on BBCA. I don't recall ST TNG ever being a BBC/UK production. What makes it appropriate for BBCA? The fact that Patrick Stewart and Marina Sirtis are British? They should rebrand the channel. Like the fact that MTV is only about 2 hours of music related programing a day now but still called MTV.

I used to watch BBCA when they had programs like Lovejoy, Ballykissangel, Monarch of the Glen, etc, but there is nothing left on BBCA that interests me. While I do not watch either BBCA or NGW, I can agree that these are two channels where the video can be spectacular and they definitely should be in HD.

DIY, Cooking, Universal Sports, and the ESPN Game Plan games are the only channels left that I care about that are not in HD.

Actually they do show 2 games of the week at about the middle of the week, don't remember the days but they are on.

It starts the same time every year. They didn't play the HOF game last year because the lockout had just ended.

Slightly off-topic, but I have a Doctor Who question since we are finally getting BBCAmerica and there are obviously some fans around here. I've never seen the show and am wondering if it's okay to jump right in with the new season next month, or is it advisable to catch up with past seasons(which I understand are numerous). Thanks and once again, my apologies for momentarily going off topic.

With all the rights they've gobbled up, I think we're going to need beIn Sports 2 as well. :)

I would catch up. There are 80 some episodes plus specials. The show builds. Last season, the entire season played off of the previous couple. All are available on Netflix. You can skip the classic shows. Even though they are part of the history, they are not necessary at all.

Next season is the 50th anniversary so there will probably be a lot of references to the past thus season building to next. I get that impression from the season trailer.

Yeah... I sort of expected as much.

Then again, he mentioned SatelliteRacer, not Satelliteracer, so... maybe he was talking about somebody else! ;)

Oh yeah, Swanni might want to use a halfway current Doctor Who picture... you know, with current cast members...

As much of a crime as it'd be missing David Tennant's run, I think he'd be mostly okay starting at season five.

Then again, aren't the Weeping Angels coming back in season seven? I'd definitely recommend watching at least "Blink" prior to then...

Very pleased about the announced augmentation of the HD channel lineup.

Moreover, HD LIL channels in our DMA are scheduled to appear sometime in 2012; if DirecTV ever adds H2 HD, I’ll finally be able to change my Comcast TV package and save some money.

Glad that you finally got the channel you wanted. I don't usually watch BBCA, but will now tune in, now that it will be in HD.

I'd get it from the beginning..... there is a doctor change somewhere along the line, as well as a few assistant changes, each one with their own charms. :D

No need to get the super old stuff, you can get going right from the 2005 series and onwards.

There is a scene in the trailer that leads me to think there is a culmination that has far more impact than if someone didn't watch before season five. Besides. Season five requires the earlier library and Angels shows to make any sense at all.

I have a friend who got tired of a couple of us at work getting all excited over episodes. We showed him Rose last Christmas. He devoured all the seasons on Netflix and started on torch wood. He wants to watch Sarah Jane next.

    It is addictive.

If you count the Doctor Who classic episodes, there are a lot more than two switches!! :)

2 days of being completely immersed into the Olympics and staying away from Facebook and any other "spoiling" websites.... and I completely missed this.

This is GREAT news. REALLY GREAT news. :D
