beware!!!!! ION is still very Christian Oriented (from its PAX roots), in which some of the language that made the cut ON NETWORK TV say on Cold Case, Criminal Minds, without a trace, from CBS and psych from USA Network... doesn't make the cut on ION..so be ready for that...also certain scenes too racy are gone altogether..

while certain language made the cut on their original networks you'll hear it muffled out on ION...noticed that watching a cold case show and psych once..Its a very hip G style of PG showings they have..

I'm glad to see NatGeo Wild doesn't stretch their content. A 4:3 documentary remains 4:3.

Give me a channel in HD and the odds are greatly increased that I might watch it.

Yeah. On a personal level I think Christianity (and any other religion) is filled with hypocrisy, but I am not going to tell others how they should run their business. If ION wants to do that, fine. I might not watch some shows, I may watch others. I still think ION is a mighty fine addition to the lineup of DirecTV in High Definition, regardless of whether they cut some words.

With current digital technology by the way.... I believe that television should be allowed to show in its original content, with bad words and all. This can be accomplished easily by adding a "unfiltered" audio stream as second audio, and allowing users to choose the unfiltered audio if they so please, with the option of pincode protecting the option of choosing any different audio feed for families. The FCC rules about this really stem from the day where that wasn't possible to do this yet. Times have changed, but the FCC is always notoriously slow to update its stances. :D

I think I know why I don't watch NGW even though I have it in HD on fios. Seems like very time I tune in, they are doing something like watching a hippo take a dump in a zoo rather than showing true nature programming. With the name wild, I would expect more pure nature things. Seems to be too much animal reality programming.

I think I got a nature TV overdose back in the 90ies when Animal Planet was still Animal Planet. I don't really watch it anymore. Besides that, my wife gets thoroughly upset when the Cheetah pounces on the Gazelle and kills it. Not worth the grief. :D :D

I am excited about BBCA-HD, just in time for DW. Now that Copper is going to be in HD I'll give that a shot and I can finally start watching Top Gear again.

The other channels are a nice bonus although I honestly don't expect anyone in my house to be jumping for joy over ION-HD which is basically a glorified cable access channel with a few bottom of the barrel syndicated shows and lots of ridiculous paid programming.

My HD wish list keeps getting shorter. DIY, Cooking, H2, Headline News, ID and FMC would cover my remaining SD landscape. Then I'd be free to devote all my DBS board time to pushing D* to upres every HD channel and broadcast in 4K. :D

You'll have plenty to do then. :D

Realistically, UltraHD is probably not going to be launched in a commercial setting till at least 2016, and then of course we get to complain the next 10 years as to why this and that channel aren't in UHD yet.

I see 15+ years of complaining ahead of us! :D

After which.... we'll start complaining why so-and-so isn't available yet in our personal holodecks.

Historically the overwhelming majority of new channel launches occur 7 days after going up in test mode.
