It was tested a couple of years back but the test channel was pulled and other channel(s) were added.

As far as the "QVC pays" ... it isn't quite that simple.

I know this horse has been beat to death, but these three channels had to be some executives "worst-case-scenario" of channels to be added in HD and someone jumped the gun. Maybe this is why most of corporate America has banned liquor in the office. "Lets add a soft porn channel whose heyday has long passed to our HD lineup." Maybe even wheel Hef and his oxygen tank out to promote it.

I just changed my signature today. Reelz Channel HD is my No. 1 most-wanted. But, given what little is apparently manageable until D14 gets launched in 2014, I'm believing now that it won't get added prior to the next satellite.

At the same time, I can say that, with Galavision HD, QVC HD, and Playboy TV HD, it's still difficult to second guess what DirecTV will add prior to D14.

Well, we know these aren't the end of HD in 2013, so who knows what we'll get.

Do we know that? We should get many HD additions in 3rd and 4th quarters of 2014, but I am not so sure there will be many more in 2013.

How do you know that? All I remember is that SR mentioned some more HD in the 3rd quarter. and as of now 3 are in test. I do hope you're right though.

This is a classic case of "these channels suck because I don't want them". I'll bet that a poll of every Directv sub would put QVC in the top ten or fifteen of desired hd channels that aren't there yet.

As a family we really just want Pac 12, I know everyone is tired of hearing that. But now that DirecTV has decided to add a $2 surcharge to my bill for sports in the SF Bay Area I think it's only fair we get the full local sports RSN coverage.

After Pac 12 it'd be The Hub and Universal Sports on our list.

I for one am glad to see QVC added, I don't have to hear my wife and mother in law complain that it was in HD on cable and now on Directv it looks like garbage. One less thing for the woman to complain about now. Although why its taking so long in testing is a mystery, aren't they usually on the Wed after being reported?

I cancelled my sports pack subscription in March or so - the only channel I was really interested in was Universal Sports, because I like watching the winter sports. (bobsledding, speedkating, etc) - But there are still a few online streams to be found of Universal Sports (not completely legal I would imagine) which are the same as SD (probably also because the capturer of this stream does not have the HD version), so the sports pack price is too steep for just that one channel. And although not always reliable, I have been able to watch what I wanted so far.

I'd probably re-sub to the Sports Pack if Universal Sports was in HD. I also cancelled HBO because I was rarely watching it, and I am currently not interested in any of their original shows.

There is actually not a lot of channels I still need and/or want.... Universal Sports HD may be the only one, and since it is behind a $11 sports pack, I can actually live without that one as well. Pac 12 is one I want as well, but I have been enjoying it already through a family member who has time warner cable who shows everything I want to watch (field hockey mainly) online. She doesn't use the online account, and has given me permission to use her account info to watch the sports I want to see. Kosher? Not quite of course.... but as DirecTV refuses to make a deal with PAC12, and it is too unimportant to me to switch, I use it every so often to catch a field hockey game during the season.

I am actually quite satisfied since all my wants/needs have been added over the last 2 years.

They wouldn't be wanting to pay MORE to get carried in HD though. It's very likely that DirecTV says that carriage in HD may cost them a bit more to offset the equipment cost and carrier cost and whatnot.... And QVC may have done a market analysys on their end (perhaps with the aid of surveys when people buy stuff over the phone to ask what TV provider they use) and figure that the amount of sales from switching from SD to HD on other TV providers has not increased significantly enough. In the end, it is all a money game. If research had shown that e.g. (name-cable-provider-here)viewers are now buying MORE because it is HD, it may be worth it to pay more. If not, it may not be worth it.

    My guess is:

39.65% want the channel in HD after ten others.
10.73% want the channel before anything else.
47.23% don't give a fig one way or the other
00.04% will be irate if it's ever added.
Balance have never heard of the channel.....

this guesstimate poll is accurate within 60 points either way....

Add another one to that list. I don't even have QVC in either of my favorites lists.

    I don't want it either.

I called Directv, a couple of days ago, seeing what their offers where, since my Starz and Showtime freebies expired. It appears that Directv are starting to scale back their free offers to long time subs. No free programming and only offered an additional 12 months off of the $10.00 HD fee that shouldn't even be, since many new subs got HD for Life free in the first place. WOW.....something for free that was given to new subs that came in after I've paid thousands of dollars to DIrectv, before they even arrived. If it wasn't for the odd bone that they throw out to keep me as a longtime sub, I'd be inclined to switch to another provider. Who really cares about another HD channel that sells Chinese made products to the lowest common denominator? I'd rather have Reelz and or FOX Movies, before wasting bandwidth on this crap.
